The weekend is almost here and it’s a long one. Yep, it’s Memorial Day weekend friends, and we’re giving you an extra day to make your plans. Lake Travis area golf courses are lush, lakes are full, and public pools are open for business. There’s no shortage of outdoor activities to choose from.
Before we dive into the long weekend, let’s take a quick look back at the week.
On Wednesday, Cathy shared the inside scoop on Lake Travis area wine tours. From Dripping Springs to Spicewood, we’ve got 7 local wineries and vineyards that are perfect for summertime day-tripping excursions.
And rainbows were kind of a big deal this week.
Did you see them?
We had normal rainbows in Lakeway and twin rainbows reaching across the Bee Cave sky. A couple of Lake Travis residents were lucky enough to catch ’em and nice enough to share. Scroll down for pics.
In honor of Memorial Day …
You are invited to pay tribute to the brave men and women who died serving our country at a Memorial Day Ceremony at Emmaus Church on Friday at 11am. This event is sponsored by the Lake Travis Standing Military Committee and the Lohmann’s Ford Chapter of the NSDAR. The LPD Color Guard and the Lakeway Sing Along Choir will also be participating. The guest speaker will be U.S. Navy Ret. Rear Admiral Judson “Jud” Scott.
This Memorial Day weekend in Bee Cave and Lakeway, Operation CARE (Combined Accident Reduction Effort) will be in effect which means Travis County deputies and Department of Public Safety troopers may simply issue you a bookmarker with public safety information on it instead of a citation (if you’re lucky). The goal of this nationwide program is to reduce accidents and save lives.
Have a fun and safe long weekend, Lake Travis friends!
