Rodeo Austin: Where Weird Meets Western

Written by Cathy Hale | March 3, 2015

Rodeo Austin

What began in 1938 as a stock show is now one of Austin’s premier events and it’s about to happen in 11 days. That’s right folks, Rodeo Austin is back with ProRodeo, daily concerts, a world class livestock show, an amazing fair, delicious grub and much more.

The official rodeo dates are March 14-28, but the fun starts early — like literally early, 6:00 am — with the Cowboy Breakfast on March 6 at Long Center. This is a free event with mouth-watering pancakes and biscuits, western-themed entertainment, live music and, of course, two-stepping lessons.

Oaks at Lakeway

Despite the cold snap, construction has been moving right along at the Oaks at Lakeway site. This highly anticipated $70 million, 250,000-square-foot project has had Lake Travis residents buzzing for a while, so seeing a concrete slab is rather exciting.

Plus, new tenants are falling into place like Torchy’s Tacos and High 5 Family Entertainment. We’ve also heard that the H-E-B is launching a unique concept at this location which will include full bar service and an eatery.

Trails at 620 is Taking Shape: Phase 2 News

Written by Cathy Hale | February 10, 2015

Trails at 620

We’ve covered just about all of the development news we could find in the Bee Cave and Lakeway area, so now it’s time to talk about the new entertainment and business district taking shape at 8300 N. RR 620 — Trails at 620.

If you’ve driven by lately, you may have noticed new buildings popping up. And if you haven’t been there lately, you need to check it out. It has been dubbed an “entertainment district” because it’s home to restaurants, a movie theater, shopping and more. Now we’re getting a better idea of exactly what the “more” will be and how it will all mesh nicely together for the community.

Kids Eat for Free in Lake Travis

Let’s face it, when you take the kiddos out for dinner it adds up quickly. And that’s just based on my experience feeding two boys. Ramp it up a notch to families of three or more children and you’re talking some serious cash for supper, even fast food. How many times have you hit the drive thru and winced at the total? Yikes!

We have so many great restaurants in the Lake Travis area, sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all of the cool specials they offer. That’s why we’re happy to provide you with a list of local spots that have Kid’s Nights where your hungry buckaroos can eat for free — or pretty close.

If we’ve missed your favorite spot that offers sweet deals for tiny gourmets, please let us know!
