Hill Country Apothecary in Lakeway: Not Your Traditional Pharmacists

Written by Mandy Spivey | January 27, 2014

Hill Country Apothecary

Not everyone looks forward to a trip to the pharmacy. Most of the time when I find myself in the line to pick up all manner of antibiotics, I am at the wrong end of the sick stick and can’t wait to make it back home to the warmth of my couch. But not all trips need to be so dire; a trip to the pharmacy can be a relaxing experience, one that leaves you feeling more rejuvenated than when you walked in.

Welcome to Hill Country Apothecary. Stepping into the the space, you leave behind all past notions of what a compounding pharmacy is as you speak one on one with your pharmacist about all of your health needs.

Owners Jana Downing and Adam Metcalf, both Austin pharmacists themselves, seek to provide the Lake Travis and Hill Country areas with a unique wellness experience like no other. A one-stop shop that focuses on preventative health, and personalized wellness plans in a relaxing atmosphere.

Lake Travis Area Excursion: Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary

Written by Emily O'Shaughnessy | January 24, 2014

Deer at the Austin Zoo

The Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary is unique and different than other zoos—in a good way. Of course they have most of the animals you’d expect to see at a zoo—monkeys, bears, big cats, reptiles, birds and more. Many of the animals come from bad situations, and the zoo provides them a healthy, happy forever home. The animals are well-loved and cared for and it shows.

Since legislation was passed by Rick Perry last June giving permission for breweries to sell beer directly to their customers to consume on site, IBC was interested in securing a space for their very own tap room.

Running Free: Lake Travis Area Dog Parks

Written by Mandy Spivey | January 21, 2014

Lake Travis Area Dog Parks

Sometimes you just need to get your dog out of the house, out of the yard, and give him the space to run and get social with other pooches. If you live in an apartment or condominium without a yard, you’ll likely find that Lake Travis area dog parks will become regular destinations for both you and your furry friend.

Our dog Moses has been to many dog parks in Austin and around the Lake Travis area, so I think he is a pretty good judge of which ones are winners. We are lucky to live close by a couple of his favorites — the dog parks in Lakeway and Bee Cave.
