With the back-to-school season looming soon, it’s time to get your shop on with new outfits, bright baubles, and a few must-have finds for the wardrobe. What’s great about shopping in the Lake Travis area today is there are so many options.
Back in “the day” finding cute, hip clothes required a long, traffic-y trip to Barton Square Mall. Thank goodness, those days are gone.
Let’s recap all of the cute clothing options in the Lake Travis area. And if you didn’t know, as of Tuesday, one of our most swoon-worthy jewelry designers now has a Pop-Up Shop in the area.
A history lesson about our stylish neighbors
It may not seem like it now, but boutiques in the Lakeway area have struggled over the years. Residents were slow to discover clothing retailers right in their backyard.
It could’ve been a combination of shopping habits — “must go to the mall” mindset — and the lack of ample signage due to strict code (regulations) in the area. You can ask retailers, and they’ll agree, customers still walk in and say, “I didn’t know you were here?!” And they’ve been here for years.
There was also a misnomer that the cute, little boutiques would be way too expensive. That’s another generational myth that today’s boutique owners had to bust. The thrill of flipping over a price tag expecting to see triple digits and only seeing double digits was exhilarating.
Yes, some boutiques are pricey, but for the Lakeway demographic, many store owners were focusing on cute clothing and accessories at affordable price points.
Props to our retailers
Luckily we have gems that have weathered economic downturns, signage headaches, and the skyrocketing prices for retail space.
Shops like Adorn Boutique have expanded with two shops in Lakeway (Lohmans & Hill Country Galleria) and a storefront in Waco.
Point of Origin moved into new, roomier digs.
Sage Threads & Co was a welcome surprise to the area.
Maria & Kyndal’s offered us an upscale twist on casual fashion.
The Wardrobe delivered the eye candy “wow” factor when it reopened at Gateway to Falconhead.
With adorable stores, a great selection of clothing, accessories, and gotta-have gifts, shopping local is dreamy.
Adding Tribeca & Kendra Scott to the mix
In the space that was formerly occupied by Found, you now find a new boutique, Tribeca. This new shop located in The Oaks at Lakeway boasts approachable “boutiquey” style and brands. This means you’ll find clothing and accessories for every occasion. Another stylish addition to Lakeway.
And, drum roll please, a brand new Kendra Scott Pop-Up Shop just opened on Tuesday evening in Hill Country Galleria. The shop is located by Learning Express Toys, and it will be open through August 27th. You can find your favorite Kendra Scott pieces and all of her newest designs.
Last but not least, don’t forget about all of the fun boutiques at Hill Country Galleria, like Adorn (2nd location), Fab’rik, Lure by Y&F and Plenty Boutique, to name a few.
