Local Female Entrepreneurs Shine at Rough Hollow Parade of Homes

Written by Cathy Hale | May 18, 2017

If you want to see what it’s like to live the “rough life” in the Lake Travis area, this is your chance. The 2017 Austin Parade of Homes™ has arrived at The Peninsula of Rough Hollow.

The tour features five beautifully crafted and impeccably designed homes with jaw-dropping 360º views. But there’s one house that has a unique story to tell and that’s the Laurel Haven Homes villa located at 618 Vendemmia Bend.

This 6,600 square foot home is a nod to the bygone era of the 1930s & 1940s with Great Gatsby-esque elements of grandeur that can be found in even the smallest detail.

Regina Cotroneo of Laurel Haven Homes was in charge of the architectural selections and interior design of this home, so she assembled an extraordinary group of women who live in the Lake Travis community to bring her vision to fruition.

Meet the ladies responsible for making this modern vintage villa shine.

Lake Travis Crisis Ministries Embodies “Love One Another” Mission

Written by Kim Wade | May 4, 2017

In a tight knit community like Lake Travis, we’re blessed to have great neighbors. That’s why we’d like to thank a special organization in the area who lives up to their mission, “love one another.”

Each year, Lake Travis Crisis Ministries assists approximately 2,000 families (6,500-7,000 individuals) by distributing over 70,000 pounds of food. And they write about $10,000-$15,000 worth of checks to help cover utility and living expenses for families in need.

Run solely by volunteers and donations, Lake Travis Ministries offers food, financial aid, prayer and counseling, access to social workers, as well as referrals to other resources for families that live within the boundaries of Lake Travis ISD.

A Tribute to Lake Travis Area Drill Teams and Local Alumni: Cavalettes and Legacies

Written by Cathy Hale | April 27, 2017

In the Lake Travis area, football is a big deal. But there are other athletes in Lake Travis who work just as hard as our helmet-clad fellas …

Ladies, it’s time to embrace your inner dance mom, because we’re singing drill team praises today! It’s not just about kick lines, red lipstick, hairspray and sequins. It’s about teamwork, a sense of accomplishment and structure.

In Texas, drill teams are like sororities. These young women are more like tight-knit families than friends. They dedicate themselves to their craft and bettering the community. There are legacies and alumni spanning the generations.

This weekend, two Lake Travis area schools will be having their annual Spring Shows, the Vandegrift Legacies and the Lake Travis Cavalettes.

In honor of these talented young ladies and everyone who supports them, we’re taking a closer look at the Cavalettes (founded in 1981) and the Legacies (founded in 2009).

Plus, we’ve added a little tribute to former drill team members who are still cultivating a love of dance in the Lake Travis community.
