Perhaps Lake Travis folks stay active because there is so much yummy food to try! From typical fare (Tex-Mex) to the more unique (food trailer scene), there usually is something new or "coming soon" to try in this growing community. A healthy mindset means there are always various good-for-you options: organic, farm to table, and locally-grown, to name a few.

New grocery store options continue to offer the good stuff and local breweries are making their mark in everything from new establishments to tours and tap rooms. Specialty coffee shops and any number of local bakeries means your palette doesn't have to travel far for variety.

I got together with one of the trio of founders of the restaurant, Jennifer Halpine, to get a little bit of history of the bacon bar and just how it got to be such a famous Spicewood staple in recent years.

Ask anyone you know in the Lake Travis area and you’ll likely hear a recurring answer. The Oasis — The Sunset Capital of Texas — owns that title with an awe-inspiring backdrop and sunsets over the main body of Lake Travis.

The restaurant is a Lake Travis favorite, serving locals and out-of-towners who want a lingering look at those famous Lake Travis waters. Over three decades has made The Oasis and its surrounding mini-town a veritable institution for the greater Austin area, bringing in crowds for lunch, dinner, drinks, and Lake Travis sunsets.
