Spring has arrived and so has the weather we’ve all been waiting for! Plenty of sunshine and temps in the 80’s will make it the perfect weekend to enjoy some of your favorite Lake Travis area patios along with this weekend’s live music lineup — especially after a day of raking leaves!

Easter events are kicking off this weekend with Eggstravaganza at Lakeway City Park. Take a drive downtown and kick-off spring at the Zilker Garden Festival or catch the final weekend of Rodeo Austin. Make a trip out to the Hill Country for berry picking and The Mike Cupps Memorial Lawnmower Races at Sweet Berry Farm.

It’s the weekend and the start of spring break in the Lake Travis area!

You may be headed to the Texas Coast …

or to the mountains for skiing …

or staying right here and having a stay-cation in the Lake Travis area. You’ll have plenty to choose from including two of Austin’s biggest events — SXSW is underway and Rodeo Austin will be kicking things off on March 14th.

In fact, there’s so much to do during the week of spring break that we decided to take the week off too! But we’re not going to leave you without our weekend roundup and a list of family friendly activities for spring break in the Lake Travis area.

It looks like this Texas winter is finally starting to loosen its grip. It’s nice to see the blue skies and sun return for a couple of days. Usually we have what’s called a cold snap — wintry weather that will last for a couple days — not several weeks. March is here and it’s time to get warm!

The Oasis and Steiner Ranch Steakhouse are back on the calendar with live music. Lakeway has outdoor and indoor activities this weekend. Stop by Sailfish Park to help clear out some brush and eat free pizza at Firewise Field Day. Or find your treasure at the Lakeway Indoor City-Wide Garage Sale this Saturday at the Lakeway Activity Center. Always fun for the little ones is the Free Kids Workshop at Home Depot (Bee Cave and Four Points location).

We have plenty of other things for you to do and ways to stay up late on Saturday night, but not too late — it’s the weekend we lose an hour of sleep. We’ll see you out and about the Lake Travis area. Live Local!

It has been a cold week in the Lake Travis area and we’re hoping for the weather to warm up and clear up for the weekend. That’s because it’s a lot more fun to make the trip to the big city and fly your kite at the 86th Annual Zilker Park Kite Festival when it’s sunny and warm. Chances for rain on Sunday are pretty good, so if Mother Nature refuses to cooperate (again!) a rain date is scheduled for March 8th.

There are a couple of rain or shine events to check out this weekend including our worth-the-trip Braunfest in New Braunfels. Or stay closer to home and get some exercise this Sunday at Run for a Purpose 5K and KidsK taking place through the rolling hills of Lakeway. Sign up to run or show up to cheer and help fight lung cancer.
