Well “frightful” might be a stretch, but the colder weather outside definitely has us in the mood for the holiday season. Decorations are popping up and Christmas carols are playing on repeat in the stores. Ready or not, ‘tis the season!
The Hill Country Galleria really gets into the spirit, kicking off its holiday season this Thursday, November 20th with the 8th annual Tree Lighting event. Santa also makes his arrival, to the delight of kids from 1 to 92.
Freeze Warnings … seriously? We just went from summer to winter in a hurry! What happened to fall in Austin, Texas?
It doesn’t look like it’s going to warm up much until next weekend, but let’s not hunker down inside next to the fireplace just yet. If you don’t mind getting outside, there’s plenty to do including the Texas High School Football Playoffs and the final weekend of Wurstfest in New Braunfels. And if you want to stay warm, there are a whole lot of indoor activities too.

Happy Halloween! It seems like we’ve been doing Halloween activities all month long, but it’s finally here! Tonight is the final celebration and it’s all about trick-or-treating here in the Lake Travis area. Fill up your candy bowls and get ready for all the trick-or-treaters going door to door in search of the best candy.
If you’re not into passing out candy, just set a bowl outside your door and get out for some live music or head downtown for COTA Fan Fest. This free event is going on all weekend and it’s paired up with the 2014 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix (not free) at Circuit of the Americas.
By the time Sunday gets here, it will be a good time to kick back, relax and get that extra hour of sleep. Daylight saving time will end at 2:00am this Sunday, so be sure and set your clocks back an hour before your head hits the pillow and we start it all over again on Monday. Each year as Austin welcomes the excitement of Formula 1 to our city, we get better and better at throwing fun-filled events that embrace the excitement of hosting the most star-studded motorsport event in the world.
Beginning on Halloween, October 31, Circuit of the Americas (COTA) will host a turbo-charged festival downtown called Fan Fest. The schedule of live music at Fan Fest — a free event — is impressive to say the least. Bands include Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, De La Soul, Grupo Fantasma, Dale Watson, Fishbone, Whiskey Shivers and more. Plus, a super line-up of cover bands.
