Each year as Austin welcomes the excitement of Formula 1 to our city, we get better and better at throwing fun-filled events that embrace the excitement of hosting the most star-studded motorsport event in the world.

Beginning on Halloween, October 31, Circuit of the Americas (COTA) will host a turbo-charged festival downtown called Fan Fest. The schedule of live music at Fan Fest — a free event — is impressive to say the least. Bands include Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, De La Soul, Grupo Fantasma, Dale Watson, Fishbone, Whiskey Shivers and more. Plus, a super line-up of cover bands.

This weekend Austin hosts one of the premiere literary events in the country. The Texas Book Festival takes place in and around the State Capitol October 25 & 26^th, offering events for all ages and interests. Not only does this festival appeal to literary experts and those in the field, but it also caters to casual readers, cookbook lovers, educators and even children who are just learning their ABCs. There truly is something for everyone, and best of all — it’s free.

One of the best things about living in the Lake Travis area is the abundance of excursions you can take in the surrounding hill country. A short drive in any direction can make you feel like you’re in an entirely different world. Luckenbach, TX, is the perfect example. And if you love trailer food, wine, live music (or all of the above) this weekend presents a great opportunity to get back to the basics of love.

The first annual Hill Country Food Truck Festival takes place this Saturday, August 2^nd from noon – 11:30pm in Luckenbach. Tickets are $15 per person, with kids 12 and under free. Trailer food, wine, beer and music will come together in this small, laid back hill country town.
