When you need to get some heavy work done but your home office is too distracting, sometimes venturing out into the spaces that others use for productive time is the best answer. It’s a secret I learned in college that stayed with me throughout the years—go to where great minds are brewing and you will be in a better mood to power through your own piles of work.
For some reason, cafes and coffee shops seem to dominate my list of productive meet-up spots. But over the years, I have narrowed down the necessities vital to assisting in an effective work session.
In addition to energizing beverages and light snacks needed for powering brains for several hours, one can never have enough table space or power outlets. Trust me. When your laptop is teetering on the edge of an economics book and your third latte just arrived, you’re going to wish you had snagged that 4 person table.
Atmosphere can make or break a meet-up spot. If the tunes are too caustic, the crowds too loud, you cannot read, let alone work for hours. That’s why it helps if there is some quiet (or at least some decent music) to drown out the sounds of espresso machines and drinks clanking.
So here they are, the best coffee shops in the Lake Travis area for getting productive and getting work done.
Lola Savannah Coffee Lounge
The newest location of The Grove in Lakeway has also added a charming coffee bar next door, Lola Savannah Coffee Lounge. This is great news for coffee-holics like myself, because I can bring my laptop and camp for hours and enjoy the beautiful Hill Country views.
Lola Savannah prides itself on its ambiance and relaxed atmosphere, and combined with their ample table space this location makes for a great meet-up spot for individuals or groups.
Angel Donuts & Treats
You may have driven by one of Lake Travis’ newest donut shops and never even noticed them. Tucked away off Ranch Road 620 in the same shopping center as Moviehouse & Eatery, sits Angel Donuts & Treats. I came to try their savory snacks a few weeks ago and was blown away by the diversity of their menu, bubble tea selection and coffee bar.
This is a perfect place for a study session or for a meet-up with professionals because of the many tables and outlets available for your work needs. Oh, and did we mention the treats? Take your pick from cake balls, kolaches, beignets, croissants and more. Open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., your cram session just got a little more delicious.
The Buzz at Whole Foods
Have you been upstairs at Whole Foods Market in Bee Cave? The Buzz is one of the best reasons to bring your laptop for a meet-up at the eatery. When tables upstairs get full, take a step outside for more tables and balcony views of the Hill Country Galleria.
Downstairs you have a coffee bar and even more tables for camping out and working. Plenty of outlets are available for plugging in your tech devices. And if you get hungry, take a stroll around the hot bar for a quick pick-me-up. Open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Bee Cave Coffee Co.
One of the newest coffee shops on the block, it’s also one of the most spacious and inviting meet-up spots on our list. Fans of neighborhood restaurant, Chisos Grill, will be glad to know that owner Chad Jones decided to expand his business ventures into the coffee market, giving Lake Travis residents access to delicious local coffee brews, pastries, lunch and a place where one can camp out for a few hours to hammer out that big proposal.
There are plenty of outlets to use at your disposal, two separate lounge areas with couches and tables, and a pretty decent looking lunch menu to keep your brain chugging along once you hit that 3 o’clock slump.
Java Dive
Don’t forget the Lake Travis area favorite, Java Dive, if not for their healthy gluten-free menu, then for their tasty coffee treats and friendly lake vibe atmosphere. There are always plenty of tables to snag, and they even serve breakfast tacos and brunch on the weekends. You will find plenty of space to bring all of your necessities and healthy eating options to keep your mind powered and on task.
A special bonus is the quiet atmosphere necessary for intense concentration. Open from Monday thru Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (8 a.m. opening on the weekends).

Great little article, lived in Lakeway for almost 10 years, work from home and share the same mindset on getting out of the house to get work done. Crazy thing is Angel Donuts & Treats or Bee Cave Coffee Co. are new to me, can’t wait to try those out! Another place that’s great is Two Saints Bakery, love getting out there to work in mid-morning and finish it off with a good healthy lunch before I change locations. My suggestion is to try the Angle Club/Tomato Basil Soup and Sandwich special.

Thanks for the recommendation and lunch suggestion Thomas! I stopped in at Two Saints Bakery last week to pick up some sweets. The breakfast and lunch menu looked amazing!
