Christmas Clean-Up: Tree Disposal in Lake Travis

For most of us it’s time to pack up the ornaments and the festive decorations, so we thought we’d share a few helpful items with you to make your post-Christmas clean-up a little bit easier. There are many places throughout Lake Travis where you can drop off your tree for disposal/recycling.

If you decorated a roadside tree in the area to “Keep Austin Weird,” don’t forget to clean up that tree as well. We have to keep Austin beautiful too!

New Year's Eve Celebrations in Lake Travis

It’s time to bid farewell to 2014 and usher in 2015! Yep, New Year’s Eve is right around the corner and there’s still time to make reservations at your favorite Lake Travis spot. There are plenty of NYE celebrations and parties to choose from with something for everyone — live music, delicious food and wine pairings and a glass (or two) of bubbly.

If you want to say howdy to 2015 in cowboy boots and jeans, head over to Poodies Roadhouse for their annual NYE concert with blues artist WC Clark. Or if you feel like getting cozy with that special someone, check out the New Year’s Eve Package at Lakeway Resort.

Lake Travis Area Weekend Events: December 26 – 28

We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! What a beautiful crisp day we had in Austin and the Hill Country. It was perfect for testing out new bikes, scooters and skateboards!

There’s still time to enjoy twinkling lights under the Texas sky right here in Lake Travis at Lakeway’s Trail of Lights. If you’re headed out to do some shopping this weekend, take a look at the extended shopping hours at Hill Country Galleria, where you can also catch some of the biggest box office hits if your feet need a rest.

Looking for something fun to do in the city? Check out “Holidaze Are Here Again” at Austin’s historic Esther’s Follies and laugh off a few holiday calories!

Tracking Santa, Magical Reindeer Food & Goodbye Elf on the Shelf

It’s hard to believe Christmas Eve is here and the lovable guy in the red suit will make his way around the world tonight, delivering gifts to everyone. If you haven’t checked out the official NORAD Santa Tracker, it’s an awesome interactive website where you can see the spectacular gift-giving adventure in 2D, 3D with Santa cams, videos, games, music and much more.

There’s a running total of gifts delivered, which is around 1.8 million right now, an alert letting you know where he just arrived and where he’s headed to next. There are plenty of apps in the iTunes store counting down the historic night as well is you need to track the fun on-the-go.

Lakeway Medical Village: Say Howdy to New Hotels and The Goddard School in Lake Travis

News of growth in Lake Travis continues to make headlines with Lakeway Medical Village announcing it has new tenants, La Quinta and Marriott. The hotels, along with 100,000 square feet of general and medical space, will sit on the 65.9-acre tract in front of Lakeway Regional Medical Center. The Goddard School Lakeway broke ground on Oct. 24 and is expected to open in April 2015.

The sparkly new hotels won’t be terribly huge, but they will be decked out with the latest touches of technology and comfort. The La Quinta will have 80-90 rooms and the Marriott will probably be the same size, but the type of Marriott has not been determined yet. The project will most likely bring in retail and dining as well, since the visibility will be fantastic from RR 620.
