Lake Travis Local: Meet Celeb Style Guru Heather Campbell-Green

Written by Cathy Hale | December 16, 2014

Did you know the “original” (as in first-ever!) Celebrity Style Guide was created right here in Lake Travis?

Well, it was. Thanks to Steiner Ranch resident Heather Campbell-Green’s love of the TV show Friends and her friendship with the show’s costume designer, she was inspired to help fashionistas everywhere replicate popular celeb styles. And let’s be honest, didn’t everyone want Rachel’s haircut?

Celebrity Style Guide, an online publication, was founded in 2005 and instantly appeared on the radar for fashion gurus across the globe as the go-to spot for the accurate identification of hottest designer clothes, accessories, trends and beauty products you see on your favorite television shows, movies and celebrities.

Heather’s love of celeb style was contagious and style editors flocked to her website for her fresh content. Heather’s site has been featured as one of the top 10 “must visit” websites by People StyleWatch and she has been mentioned on ABC News and in magazines like US Weekly and InStyle.

LTL Weekend Dec12

December is a month filled with holiday celebrations and traditions. A favorite local tradition is evident as hundreds of trees that line our roadways and neighborhood streets get decorated with a variety of ornaments, garland, sports paraphernalia and other creations that brighten up our drive.

There are plenty of reasons to get out on the road this weekend and check out some of the holiday events and traditions in and around the Lake Travis area.

This festive weekend is filled with everything from holiday concerts to the Vandegrift Vipers competing against Temple in the state semifinals at the Alamodome this Saturday. Once again, there is snow in the forecast with another snow day at the Hill Country Galleria on Sunday. Looking ahead to next week is the start of the 39th Annual Armadillo Christmas Bazaar on Tuesday, December 16.

Our beautiful town is getting decked out in its holiday best so head on out there and enjoy it!

The 39th Annual Armadillo Christmas Bazaar: Shopping, Live Music, Beer

Armadillo Christmas Bazaar

It’s time to get your shop on in the big city with one of Texas’ favorite mammals, the armadillo. That’s right, folks! It’s time for the 39th Annual Armadillo Christmas Bazaar at the Palmer Events Center, December 16-24.

This is one of Austin’s longest running shopping extravaganzas featuring more than 160 artists, 11 new vendors, tasty treats and live music. It’s the culmination of an art fair, a Texas-style concert and Christmas wrapped into one huge party with a splash of ZiegenBock.

Bearded Brothers: The Wholesome Snack Food Company Run by Bros Before GMOs

Written by Mandy Spivey | December 10, 2014

Bearded Brothers

Hunger is a mighty efficient motivator; Maslow’s hierarchy of needs illustrates this in detail, explaining how humans cannot move toward personal happiness if things like safety and shelter are still lacking in life.

In less dire circumstances, two brothers found themselves in a similar hungry situation, which forced them to think outside the box and create their own organic health-centered energy bars.

We’re talking about Austin’s Bearded Brothers, the wholesome snack food company run by Caleb Simpson and Chris Herbert. Active living is a large part of their lives and the guys were busy in the rock climbing, running and disc golf communities. When they couldn’t find eats that they liked, the guys decided to concoct their own organic variations of their favorite energy bars and snacks.
