Medical emergencies are never fun. I should know; when I had a fever that struck in the middle of the night and couldn’t stand up because of the intense stomach pains, I knew I couldn’t rely on good old fashioned taking ‘er easy and sleeping on the couch to pull me through.
Since I am relatively new to the area as well, I was up for the extra task of figuring out where to head for emergency treatment, and to my surprise, I had a few options. The Lake Travis area is home to several urgent and primary care centers, along with a full-service hospital that opened in April 2012.

Lakeway Regional Medical Center is at the heart of Lakeway off 100 Medical Parkway, directly across from The Grove on RR 620. This is the only full-service hospital with a true emergency room in the Lake Travis area. LRMC provides services including Radiology, Surgical Services, Labor and Delivery, Orthopedics and more. MedSpring, located at 11521 RR 620 near Anderson Mill Rd., right next to the HEB Plus. Open everyday from 9 am to 9 pm, the staff are ready to serve all of your urgent care and primary care needs. Their team specializes in treatment for illness such as coughs, sinus infections and colds. With x-ray and lab equipment on site, even minor emergencies such as broken bones and cuts can be treated at the center.
Steiner Ranch Primary Care, located at 2900 N. Quinlan Park Rd, approximately 1.5 miles from RR 620 in the center of the neighborhood at The Shops at Steiner Ranch. Their physicians are able to help with physical exams, allergy testing, immunizations and can even help in treating minor emergencies onsite. Open Monday through Thursday 7:30am to 5:00pm and Friday from 7:30am to 3:00pm. (Closed for lunch from 12 noon -1:30pm daily).
VIK Medical urgent care and family practice is another place to keep in mind. They are conveniently located in Westlake, Lakeway and River Place, and walk-in appointments are always accepted. Their family practice offers services in allergy testing, sports physicals, screening for hypertension and more. If you have an emergency such as a bone fracture, strep throat, or if you are suffering from dehydration, the team at VIK Medical are equipped to handle that. Open 7 days a week from 8 am to 8 pm.
Bee Cave Urgent Care is located at 11614 FM 2244 just east of Lake Pointe Elementary School. They can help you with minor trauma emergencies, x-rays, lab services, and preventative medicines like flu shots. No appointment is necessary and you can walk in any day between the hours of 9am to 9pm.
