The League
It should come as no surprise that this awesome local establishment serves up the city’s finest selection of gourmet hamburgers. Choose from The Society Burger, All American Burger (featuring a fried egg) and the Southern Burger — their most popular burger with sugar cured bacon, cheddar, fried onions and Brooklyn BBQ Sauce.
The League likes to mix things up a bit by offering a unique hamburger of the week too. Whether it’s a Chicago Style Burger with all of the fixings (a relative of the Chicago Style Hotdog) or the Reuben Burger, The League has fun creating a flavorful twist on the classic burger.
Added perk: Horseradish pickles and hand-cut truffle fries!
All Star Burger
When All Star Burger opened in the Hill Country Galleria, Lake Travis residents couldn’t stop talking about how terrific it was and that fact remains the same today. All Star Burger offers 12 different burgers on their extensive menu including a veggie burger, ahi tuna burger and a venison burger.
All Star Burger is dedicated to serving fresh and local ingredients like Premium Gold Pure Country Angus Beef, cage-free eggs and turkey from Richardson Farm in Rockdale. Their unique burgers include The West with roasted jalapenos and garlic cilantro cream cheese, Fireman with cheddar, refried beans, avocado, tortilla chips, pico and jalapeno mayo and Visionary with goat cheese, fresh garlic, rosemary and sun-dried tomatoes.
Added perk: Delicious hand-dipped Blue Bell shakes!
Sandeez Hamburger Hut
Just off RR 620 is Sandeez, the “best little burger joint in Texas.” Sandeez is a Lakeway gem with eight amazing Bucket List Burgers like The Islander, The Hell Burger, The Guido Burger, The Guacaholic, The Humpty Dumpty, The Three Little Pigs, The Buffalo and The Gancho.
All of these burgers feature delicious toppings and two of them are extra tasty because they’re fried chicken burgers. Yeehaw! Don’t worry, they have a veggie option for non-meat eaters and a double meat option for meat enthusiasts. You can swing by and eat at the hut or call ahead if you’re placing a big order to go.
Added perk: Check out their great breakfasts too!
Fore Restaurant
Located under the famous Lakeway golf ball water tower, Fore serves up some of the best burgers in Lake Travis. Fore, the recipient of two Open Table Diners’ Choice awards (2013 & 2014), has four gourmet burgers to choose from including the Build Your Own Fore Burger, Black and Blue Burger, Jalapeno Texas Burger and a healthy flame grilled chicken breast option.
The burgers feature Angus beef with fresh condiments you’d expect like lettuce, tomato and onion and a great selection cheeses like white cheddar, american, smoked gouda, swiss, gruyere or blue. Additional toppings include sauteed mushrooms, applewood smoked bacon and of course, a fried egg.
Added perk: Weekly special $5 Burger Night on Mondays!
Zingers Bar & Grill (now closed)
Located in the Hill Country Galleria at the corner near Whole Foods is a great family-friendly spot to watch the games on flat screen TVs, grab a beer and indulge in a fantastic burger called the Texas Longhorn Burger.
Patrons love this hearty burger that features an 8oz Angus burger patty on a mildly sweet bun with all of the fixins and, of course, a fried egg to top it off is available. (Yep, Texans love their fried eggs!) Zingers also has a tasty veggie burger called the Stiffler.
Added perk: Enjoy the ambiance in a comfy booth with fun gaming stations.
