Valentine’s Day — the day of love, flowers, chocolates and copious spa treatments! Whether you’ve been with your special someone a hundred years or a few minutes, a well thought-out gift can do wonders for a relationship.
The big day is one of indulgences and showing your lover just how much you appreciate them. A gift of this magnitude is not something to be taken lightly, so that is why we have compiled a gift guide for the Lake Travis area for all types of boyfriends and girlfriends, husbands, wives and all those in between.
Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
You don’t have to be a chocoholic to enjoy a good chunk of cocoa from time to time. Before you have to gear up for swim suit season in the summer, take a chance to get to know the chocolate goodies from such area chocolatiers as Delysia, Austin Truffle Co. and Expressions Fine Chocolates in Lakeway. You can find some of the best selections near the Hill Country Galleria at retailers like Con Olio, Whole Foods and Breed & Co.
If you’re a traditionalist like myself, this is also the time of the year when you get to enjoy chocolate-covered strawberries, the holy grail of Valentine’s Day sweets. Whole Foods makes a great dip at it, as does Two Saints Baking Co. & Cafe and Amy’s Ice Cream. Stop by Sweet Bakery in Lakeway for an ever rotating offering of sugary goods, too. These desserts don’t last, though, so you might need to call ahead and reserve an order for your special sweetie to pick up just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Relaxation, Romance, the Works!
Valentines Day would truly be lacking without the certain relaxation that comes along with a spa day — foot massages, rejuvenating facials, manicures. We’re in one of the best areas for spa treatments and the like, so get creative with this one boys. Lakeway Resort and Spa is one to offer romance packages for lovers of all kinds to enjoy, or try the soothing hands of the massage experts at Lake Austin Spa, Milk + Honey, Spa at the Lake and Sage & Sweetgrass to get you in that romantic mood. After a day of pampering your love will be in the perfect state of mind for that candlelit dinner.
Necessities on Valentines Day
And of course, you need just a handful of things to pull off the perfect Valentines Day. Flowers, meaningful cards and small gifts all come together to show your honey just how much you appreciate all that they do. That’s why I like to head down to shops like Magpie in Lakeway for a fun assortment of thoughtful cards and perfumes, flowers and candles, all of the objects a girl could use more of (hint hint). You can place orders for your beautiful bouquet ahead of time to secure the best selection of flora included in your bunch.
Last minute shoppers should head to area grocers like Randall’s and Whole Foods for a Valentine’s Day selection of roses and floral goodies to give.
Party Couture is another great stop along the way in Bee Cave to stock up on Valentine’s Day, which carries a fun assortment of balloons, gifts and holiday-themed wares perfect for the romantic occasion. Don’t forget the little details like wrapping paper and bags, too, which can make a big difference in presentation.
Most importantly, though, is to have fun and make it a memorable moment for you and your loved one to remember for years to come.
