Texas loves leather. The ruggedness. The versatility. The feel of well-conditioned cowhide. I have been drawn to leather all of my life, and even study leather crafting a bit on the side to supplement my love for all things tanned and western. So when I found out that Town & Country Leather was opening their third and newest showroom in the Lake Travis area, I had to check it out.
Out off Highway 71 in Bee Cave near the Galleria sits an historic building that you might remember used to house Estancia home furnishings. Oh, but did you also know that it was the ol’ honky-tonk Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys used to entertain area farmers and ranchers in years past?
This is the new home of Town & Country Leather. Owners Eric and Karen Salem put their personal touches and design into the shop and made a few changes to the building, taking the time to make some much-needed improvements to the property in the process. Updates included transforming the back of the building where the warehouse used to be into a first-class showroom for the flooring, tile and carpeting of Chase Flooring.
But the renovations were just part of the celebration; in fact, it was also Town & Country’s big Grand Opening. Food, fun and freebies made the night a huge success, and Texas country by musicians Todd Phelps and Todd Turner set the mood for a laid-back leather shopping experience.
Lake Travis locals mingled with owners of Chase Flooring, Marc and Chris Chase, who were in attendance and in good spirits as their hard work and new showroom was on display. Tex-Mex hors d’oeuvres were provided by Verdes Mexican Parrilla and lucky winners won gift cards for their favorite leather pieces in the store. We will be back, I am sure!
