The Candy Jar: Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Written by Emily O'Shaughnessy | December 30, 2013

The Candy Jar

Christmas is over, but if visions of sugarplums still dance in your head it may be time to visit The Candy Jar in the Hill Country Galleria. With over 800 different varieties of candy you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store. Oh, wait…

The store, which opened in October, is a wonderful addition to the Lake Travis area. When I first walked through the door I felt like Charlie must have felt when he entered the Chocolate Factory — amazed and delighted with the desire to sample every single item in sight.

There’s every color in the rainbow, in any form you can think of — taffy, jelly beans, truffles, gummies, lollipops, nostalgic candy, seasonal treats and more. On top of being visually stunning, the place smells (and tastes!) delicious.

My husband is a native New Orleanian, so he was thrilled to learn they serve New Orleans style snowballs. There’s a big difference between a snowball and a traditional snow cone — but don’t take my word for it.

If you don’t have plans to make it to Louisiana in the near future, you can pop in The Candy Jar to get your snowball fix. Top it off with whipped cream and you may never eat a regular snow cone again.

The “Parlor Room” in the back of the shop provides a festive place for birthday parties and other special events, such as the recent gingerbread workshops. They offer complete birthday packages such as a princess or superhero theme. Guests leave with custom candy bags — hard to think of anything sweeter for a child.

So whether you’re looking for something specific or just want to satisfy your never-ending sweet tooth, The Candy Jar in the Hill Country Galleria is definitely worth a visit.
