It’s time to get your shop on in the big city with one of Texas’ favorite mammals, the armadillo. That’s right, folks! It’s time for the 39th Annual Armadillo Christmas Bazaar at the Palmer Events Center, December 16-24.
This is one of Austin’s longest running shopping extravaganzas featuring more than 160 artists, 11 new vendors, tasty treats and live music. It’s the culmination of an art fair, a Texas-style concert and Christmas wrapped into one huge party with a splash of ZiegenBock.
Since it’s just not Austin-y enough without live tunes, there will be more than 28 bands performing throughout the event. Dale Watson will take the stage on opening night and the lineup for the rest of the week includes names like Ruthie Foster, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Carolyn Wonderland, Shiny Ribs, Alpha Rev and Mayeux and Broussard. If you click on the button in the upper right-hand side of the website, you can listen to the artists who will be performing on Armadillo Christmas Bazaar Radio. Impressive!
The artisans create some absolutely gorgeous, clever and funky items that run the gamut from fine jewelry to quirky art to organic goodies to baby clothes and more. There is definitely something for everyone, including you! If you’re curious, you can get a sneak peek at the unique gifts online in the Artist Gallery.
Instead of hopping from store-to-store and dealing with traffic and lots of angry drivers in crowded parking lots (Seriously!?), this event brings the most unique gift ideas to you. It’s seriously a one-stop holiday shop. The vendors and the event center always do a tremendous job on the holiday decor, so the festive eye candy is a must-see.
If you need a beverage to ease the stress of holiday shopping, they offer a bar stocked with local and seasonal brew, domestic beer and, of course, cider. You can also purchase freshly made pasta and pizza from Southside Flying Pizza to keep your hunger in check.
The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar also supports the Austin community by featuring different local non-profit organizations in its Community Area every day, so make sure you swing by to see how you can keep our local lovely.
Chime in! How many years have you shopped the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar?
