In 2008, six million Americans did not vote because they did not know how to register or they missed their state’s voter registration deadline, according to the US Census.
Did you know that 1,500 elections and ballot initiatives will be decided on Election Day this year? With so many elections being held, millions of people are registering to vote on September 24, a.k.a. National Voter Registration Day.
First started last year for the 2012 presidential election, National Voter Registration Day is the first day of its kind when you can help ensure your family, friends and neighbors are registered to vote.
Take some time today to help spread the word and make sure you are registered to vote in Travis County and update the information on your voter registration card. The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming Nov. 5 election is Oct. 7.
If you happen to be running around the Lakeway area, you can grab a voter registration form at Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing (map) or visit the Travis County Voter Registration Online.
Have you moved since Election Day 2012?
Make sure you’re registered to vote at your new address! Address changes may be done online at the Texas Office of the Secretary of State.
