LTL Weekly & This Weekend in Lake Travis: July 20-22, 2018

Written by Todd Hower | July 19, 2018

When you release water to grow rice …

Lake Travis is less than 70 percent full, and Lake Buchanan isn’t far behind. So far this year, the LCRA has sent more than 44,000 acre-feet of stored water downstream. They plan to release another 55,000 acre-feet between August and October.

When you want french toast with bananas and strawberries …

Family-friendly neighbor restaurant Galaxy Cafe will plant its flag near Lake Travis early next year, as it plans to open a location at Quinlan Crossing in Steiner Ranch.

When you’re driving — or stuck in traffic — on 620 …

Here’s what you should visit.

When you go back in time …

From the photo vault: Summer fun at the lake in old Austin and the evolution of lake life.

When you’re trying to stay cool …

Who says you have to be miserable in these record-breaking Texas temperatures? Beat the heat with these H2Options.

When you put art in your heart …

On Wednesday, LTL’s Cathy Hale introduced you to the new owner and Creative Director of PAIYH Dance Studios, Beth Ann Hawley, a former Rangerette who continues to inspire and empower others with dance.

When the road you travel needs more friends in high places …

TxDOT declined to ask for money to help widen northern RM 620 from Mansfield Dam to U.S. 183. Apparently what the winding, congested highway in western Travis County needs, at least the part of it north of Mansfield Dam, is more friends in high places.

This will give you more time to get to know the nine drivers you’ll meet at 620 & 2222.

6 Reasons Why You Can Eat More Ice Cream

Written by Emily O'Shaughnessy | January 17, 2014

Cups & Cones in Steiner Ranch

“Can we go to Cups & Cones?” I hear this phrase at least three times a week, and often times I give in. Truth is, I enjoy going almost as much as my kids. They love the ice cream, but even to them it’s not just about the sweet treats. It’s a social place, a community gathering spot that welcomes everyone.

There’s a lot to love about Cups & Cones, and you don’t have to eat ice cream every time you visit—but you can. Here are 6 reasons why you can eat more ice cream (or other yummy treats) and know that you’ll be supporting one of our favorite local businesses in the Lake Travis area.

Written by Todd Hower | September 4, 2013

Steiner Ranch Mountain Biking

Did you know that you don’t have to live in the mountains to enjoy mountain biking?

Moving to Austin from the mountains of Colorado, I was surprised as anyone to discover an incredible system of mountain biking trails all over Austin and the surrounding Hill Country. You might be surprised when you discover that some of the best riding is right here in your own backyard!

There are miles and miles of mountain bike trails in the Lake Travis area. Some of the best neighborhood riding is located in the master-planned community of Steiner Ranch. There are over 20 miles of hiking and biking trails winding through the hills and canyons of Steiner Ranch.
