On the heels of National Pizza Day, we get to celebrate a very Texas-y cocktail — the margarita!
That’s right folks, today is National Margarita Day! In Texas, this delightful drink concoction is a daisy, perhaps quite literally.
According to historians, our beloved margarita evolved from popular drinks in the 1930s and 40s like gin daisies and the whisky daisies. Thanks to our Mexican ancestors, the original recipe — tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and a splash of soda — found a new name. In fact, margarita is Spanish for daisy flower.
So who’s ready to “cheers” to this sweet and sour elixir boasting the perfect tequila-to-lime ratio in a salt-rimmed glass?
