This year, the 12th Annual Lake Travis SpringFest will be at the Hill Country Galleria, so you can expect to see some of your favorites from last year and a bunch of new soon-to-be favorites too.

LTL Weekly & This Weekend in Lake Travis: August 24-26, 2018

Written by Todd Hower | August 23, 2018

When it has nothing to do with winning or losing …

The Vandegrift Viper’s football program did this on Saturday.

When it has everything to do with winning …

Baker Mayfield’s fantastic journey began at Lake Travis high school, and his story is incredible by anyone’s standards. However, with a particular group of millennials and Madden football junkies, being a bonafide Madden star takes the cake.

When you need a wheatgrass shot while shopping …

Get to Four Points. Daily Juice is planning to open a location inside the HEB.

When you’re eating fried chicken, and the sun goes down …

This never gets old.

This does get old …

So far, the triple-digit hot count for 2018 is now up to 42 in metro Austin, tying last year’s count. Only one other year in recent times had more: 2011 with the all-time record of 90.

When you’re in the mood for Cajun …

Get to Steiner Ranch. Hecho en Mexico moved out and Poppy’s Southern Recipes is moving in.

When you get a break from being trapped …

At least for a little while. The deer will be roaming free after Lakeway City Council voted unanimously to temporarily suspend the city’s deer management program for a year, starting immediately.

When you’re not first you’re last …

Lakeway’s mayor was busy doing this in the first 60 days.

When your teacher is the best  …

Congratulations to Megan Holden, an English II and AP art history teacher at Lake Travis High School for being nominated as one of six finalists for the 2019 Texas Teacher of the Year.

When your dishwasher is empty …

On Wednesday, LTL’s Cathy Hale shared a go-to guide for Kids Eat Free and meal deals at Lake Travis area restaurants.

LTL Weekly & This Weekend in Lake Travis: April 6-8, 2018

Written by Todd Hower | April 5, 2018

We’re glad you can join us for another exciting weekend in the Lake Travis area.

Everything this week seems to be happening in Bee Cave.

When you’re looking for a festival and food options in Bee Cave …

On Wednesday, Cathy Hale gave you two, new, excellent food options where you can indulge in savory or sweet or both.

This new cafe and coffee spot is set to open on Monday, April 16. Behind the restaurant’s menu are Andrew Wiseheart, the owner, chef, and co-founder of Chicon and Contigo.

Not another restaurant in Bee Cave, but this story about a diner in Spicewood will touch your heart.

Go fly a kite …

This Sunday, the Bee Cave Chamber of Commerce is hosting their annual Mighty Kite Flight at Bee Cave Central Park. Enjoy live music by the Lake Travis Fiddlers and free kites for the first 300 guests (compliments of Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave).

Root for the home team away …

It looks like Lake Travis will be playing Westlake at Westlake’s stadium for the big football game this year on October 12, 2018. You’d better start psyching yourself up for that now.

What to do if you’re out and about tonight …

First Thursday in Drippings Springs.

George DeVore and Dallas Burrow are playing at Poodies.

Bob Appel is playing Mercer Street Dance Hall.

Carl Hutchens is performing at Grumpy’s.

Tommy Shane Steiner & Drew Womack are playing at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.

Have a great weekend, and we’ll catch you next week!

LTL Weekly & This Weekend in Lake Travis: March 16-18, 2018

Written by Todd Hower | March 15, 2018

Happy Thursday, friends!

Relaxing on the beach, hitting the slopes, or having a staycation — we hope you’re enjoying Spring Break 2018.

Let’s get you caught up on all the local happenings.

What to say when someone says you don’t have a heart …

Lakeway City Center developers, Legend Communities Principal Haythem Dawlett said, “We don’t have a heart in this community.” Most Lakeway residents don’t want a new heart with increased traffic and other issues posed by a new center. No more mattress stores and yogurt shops, please.

What to do when spring arrives …

It’s time to rake up the leaves, clean up the yard and get ready for hanging out on the patio. When winter ends, and the sun comes out in Austin, so do these guys. Be careful out there.

What to wear this weekend …

Grab your best green garb, because St. Paddy’s Day is this weekend.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at Proof & Cooper in Dripping Springs with live music from One Eye Open, corn beef & cabbage, green beer and Banger Sausage on a stick.

LT Corner Pub, Lake Travis’ only Irish pub, is celebrating St. Paddy’s Day with drink specials and live music from Jay Webber Band and Knockferry Bridge.

Grumpy’s Saloon is celebrating St. Paddy’s Day with food & drink specials, live music and introducing … Guinness on tap! The fun starts at 11am.

What to do if you’re out and about today or tonight …

Thursday evening is hopping with live music: Wink Keziah and Duke Fame are playing at Poodies, Bob Appel is playing Mercer Street Dance Hall, and Carl Hutchens is performing at Grumpy’s.

Plus, if you’re feeling crafty, catch Spring Crafts at the Lake Travis Community Library today from 1pm-3pm.

Have a great weekend, and we’ll catch you next week Lake Travis!
