A New Name and More for the Lakeway Regional Medical Center

Lakeway is making headlines for a recent acquisition that Lake Travis residents should be excited about.

Baylor Scott & White Health, which currently operates nearly 50 hospitals in Texas, signed an agreement to purchase Lakeway Regional Medical Center (LRMC). If all goes well, expectations are that LRMC will be renamed Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Lakeway by the end of the summer.

The new name isn’t short and sweet — BSWMCL?! What a mouthful! — but the transition is a step in the right direction.

A big and well-respected name like Baylor Scott & White attracts (and retains) more collaboration with Central Texas providers, which means a stronger offering of medical services (from trauma to specialty), physicians, surgeons, staff as well as improved medical resources.

Lakeway Regional Medical Center: What's in Store for 2016?

There have been a lot of changes at the Lakeway Regional Medical Center in 2015. And 2016 looks to hold a lot more great things to come.

Lakeway Regional Medical Center is primed to become the premier hospital in Central Texas for complex brain, spine, and joint procedures. In addition, the hospital recently has been designated the Emergency Preparedness Command Center for Western Travis County.

So how did LRMC, known for being a beautiful — but a bit of an empty hospital — become one of the centers of medical innovation in the Lake Travis area?

Lakeway Medical Village: Say Howdy to New Hotels and The Goddard School in Lake Travis

News of growth in Lake Travis continues to make headlines with Lakeway Medical Village announcing it has new tenants, La Quinta and Marriott. The hotels, along with 100,000 square feet of general and medical space, will sit on the 65.9-acre tract in front of Lakeway Regional Medical Center. The Goddard School Lakeway broke ground on Oct. 24 and is expected to open in April 2015.

The sparkly new hotels won’t be terribly huge, but they will be decked out with the latest touches of technology and comfort. The La Quinta will have 80-90 rooms and the Marriott will probably be the same size, but the type of Marriott has not been determined yet. The project will most likely bring in retail and dining as well, since the visibility will be fantastic from RR 620.
