Many of you have heard of a blood clot. Some of you even know someone who has had one. But most of you do not know how to spot the signs, if you are at risk, or just how deadly they can be.
Blood clots kill approximately 274 people per day. Every six minutes someone dies from a blood clot. Amazingly, blood clots kill more people than AIDS, breast cancer and traffic accidents combined in the U.S.
Fortunately, a Lake Travis local is doing something to help.
Kara King is a mother, a wife, and serves on the Bee Cave City Counsel. She is also a blood clot survivor. In September 2010 she survived a near fatal blood clot — a deep vein thrombosis in her femoral vein of her left leg stretching from her ankle to her belly button. Kara was not expected to survive … but miraculously did.
