Lake Travis Lifestyle Weekend Roundup: February 3-5, 2017

Written by Todd Hower | February 3, 2017

LTL Weekend May 20 2016

February is here and so is this weekend!

Let’s get this Super Bowl LI party started with a look at your weekend ahead and — in case you missed us — a look back at what went on this past week.

Good news if you like to see things start greening up around here. Bob the armadillo did not see his shadow at the West Pole, so spring is right around the corner!

It’s your last week to find those sunglasses you lost and see Lake Austin without water before the LCRA starts filling it back up on Thursday, February 9th.

New places are getting ready to open this spring in the Oaks at Lakeway, and it looks like a burger joint will be up next. On Wednesday, we posted a sneak peak of the brand new Austin-born, barnhouse-themed Hat Creek Burger Co.

Start your weekend with a goodbye to Orka. And then get ready to watch some really expensive commercials with some football in between. Have a lovely weekend, all!

Where to Go in Lake Travis to Solve “Uh-Oh” Moments

Written by Cathy Hale | October 6, 2016

It’s all fun and games until you drop your iPhone and the screen shatters.

Or, perhaps, you’re rushing around from dance lessons to soccer games and poor Fido is sick.

Did he eat an entire bag of Doritos again?

Wait a minute, what’s that smell?

Fido got skunked!?!

If your brain screams something like, “Calgon, take me away!” or “Serenity now!” or “@#$*!,” we know exactly how you feel, Lake Travis friends.

That’s why we’ve compiled a go-to list to help you solve your “uh oh” moments, so you can keep calm and carry on. Or at least fake calmness and carry on.

Hill Country Indoor Bringing Family-Focused Sports & Recreation to Lake Travis

Written by Cathy Hale | May 19, 2016

If you’ve driven along Bee Cave Parkway and noticed a huge building under construction atop the hill next to Bee Cave Central Park and The Backyard, that’s the new home to Hill Country Indoor, an indoor private sports & recreation center with a live local attitude.

The core team of Hill Country Indoor includes Jeff Kent (a former MLB all-star), Josh McKay, Jeff Spiller, Chris Lupton, and PJ Todd. They all live right here in the Lake Travis area and have families here too. They understand the important and beneficial role sports can play in a family and they also understand the drawbacks.

That being said, their goal is not just to build a state-of-the-art facility for sports and recreation, but to ease the challenges families face of trying to be in two, three or four places at once.

By providing an indoor venue for sports, camps, tournaments and leagues, HCI hopes to offer you a local option, so you won’t have to scarf down dinner in the car halfway across town heading to practice, while the rest of your family is elsewhere doing the exact same thing. HCI decided to bring all of “that” here to one community hub and they’ve spent years making it a reality.

Written by Tiffini Brock | May 9, 2016

Meridian 98 is nestled inside the Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave, a great place for a “stay-cation” when you are looking to get pampered while not having to hire someone to let your dogs out.

Whether you choose to spend a night dining at the hotel’s restaurant or go all out and stay a night in the posh rooms, you are likely to come in contact with the southern-inspired cuisine of Chef Patrick Newman.

We caught up with Chef Newman to ask him a few questions about what brought him to Bee Cave and how he goes about creating the delicious dishes he is known for.
