Whether you crave that rich chocolatey bite of a cupcake with mile-high frosting, a perfectly baked cookie, or a decadent gluten-free goodie, the Lake Travis area has 14 dessert spots guaranteed to make your life even sweeter.
After dinner desserts
If one of your favorite parts about going out for a nice dinner is sampling sweets on the dessert menu, there are plenty of spots in the Lake Travis area that fit the bill.
You can’t go wrong with Cafe Blue’s key lime pie, the perfect citrus-y bite to follow their delicious seafood entrees. You’ll also find a selection of chocolate flan cake, crème brûlée and bread pudding.
Which brings to mind nearby Hasler Brothers Steakhouse, also located at Hill Country Galleria, which has their own signature bread pudding as well.
Another must-try dessert is G-Ma’s Old Fashioned Dump Cake at The League, a deconstructed tribute to traditional WWI-era dump cake with an ample scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
And if you find yourself in H-E-B Lakeway, it’s hard to resist their huge selection of desserts, including those enormous fancy cupcakes that look too pretty to eat!
Fresh baked goodies
Lake Travis residents agree that we have some spectacular bakeries in the area. Whether you need a sweet treat on-the-go or the perfect dessert for a party, you have lots of yummy options.
In River Place, there’s Hayley Cakes & Cookies, where you can purchase dozens of colorful sugar cookies that inspire and cure any pesky sweet tooth.
Don’t forget the cookies and mini pies at Noble Sandwich Co. and Lakeway’s boutique bakery, SWEET, where you can order practically anything customized from cakes to cookies to cakeballs.
Gluten-free bakeries
Thanks to Blackbird Bakery and Better Bites Bakery, enjoying gluten-free desserts has never been tastier. What was once nearly impossible unless you baked it yourself is now readily available.
Blackbird Bakery, owned and operated by the fabulous Karen Morgan, is committed to rising above dietary restrictions in sweet style with delicious gluten-free delights.
Better Bites Bakery also dishes gluten-free cake balls and sweets of all kinds, like cookies, cakes and brownies.
Don’t forget the donuts
Angel Donuts & Treats, with their amazing flavors of cake balls and macaroons, in addition to cupcakes, fudge and yes, freshly baked donuts. The only trouble is picking which sweet to eat, which is why most of us usually end up walking out with at least a few sugary things to enjoy later.
Then there’s The Donut Hole with two locations in the Lake Travis area. Even if you’re waiting in line on Saturday morning for a warm donut and fresh cup of coffee, it’s always worth it.
Lake Travis just welcomed a brand new Shipley Do-nuts on November 1st located at 3620 RR 620 S., Suite 100.
On the cooler side
If you prefer your dessert chilled, there are lots of cool options nearby. Two new spots opened recently, FROST and Creamistry.
FROST – A Gelato Shoppe opened in September and features authentic Italian fare like gelato and sorbet made fresh daily.
Creamistry is made-to-order ice cream with a unique twist — liquid nitrogen. They literally prepare your ice cream right in front of your eyes with all of the magic of a chemistry project.
