Bee Cave has two, new, excellent food options where you can indulge in savory or sweet — or both — because Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery and Gigi’s Cupcakes are open for business.
Let’s take a peek inside both spots and give you the lowdown on what you’ll find and why you should check them out if you haven’t already.
Get ready to get hungry …
Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery
The news first started buzzing in the Lake Travis area in 2016, when we heard the funny name with the serious sandwich was headed our way. Now, this eatery is officially open in Bee Cave, and business is booming.
The “Austin Eatery” concept celebrates everything that makes Austin unique with a few bonuses. You’ll find your favorite Schlotzky’s sandwiches, salads and fixins’ with new menu items exclusive to the eatery like tacos, sliders, and tins (stuff you eat with a fork). They also serve beer and wine.
The restaurant is spacious with indoor and outdoor seating featuring bar-height tables, booths and 2-top and 4-top tables. There’s plenty of room for everyone, which makes it perfect for families with kiddos (especially if you’re headed to or leaving games at Field of Dreams).
If you stop by during lunch hour rush, expect to stand in line, because lunchtime is busy. But take a minute to look around. The Austin-y artwork and decor coupled with the fresh design of the space and modern fixtures is fun and inviting.
Gigi’s Cupcakes
A few doors down from Schlotzsky’s Austin Eatery is Gigi’s Cupcakes. Seriously, leave room for dessert.
The shop is adorable with a vast, colorful Bee Cave mural featuring the 360 bridge and display cases full of beautiful cupcakes. You’ll marvel at the delicate details and frosting perfection of these little cakes. Not only are these cupcakes delightful to look at, but they are also delicious. Y-U-M!
What are the most popular flavors in Bee Cave, Texas?
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Wedding Cake, Lemon Icebox and the Scarlet Red Velvet. Be prepared to meet your newest dessert addiction when you bite into a Scarlet Red Velvet cupcake with Bavarian Cream.
There are gluten-friendly and vegan cupcake options, which is excellent for anyone with specific dietary needs. Plus, you can also find a selection of Blue Bell ice cream at Gigi’s with vegan vanilla (made with coconut milk).
Gigi’s opens at 9am daily, so it’s a great spot to grab a latte or a cappuccino and a little treat for later … a literal little treat. In addition to the full-size cupcakes, Gigi’s makes minis that are available in a “party box” of 12. Perfect for sharing! Well, if you want to share. You may eat them all yourself.
