If you’re looking for carefully crafted seafood that reigns with its natural flavors — without masking its freshness with over seasoning — Redfin Seafood Kitchen is where you’ll want to make your order.
Lake Travis’ newest catch for the freshest seafood selections in town … granted you will not find anything from Lake Travis on the menu. Fresh fish is delivered weekly and oysters are delivered every day. Come the weekend, the restaurant usually sells out of their tasty oysters.
The Space
Redfin Seafood Kitchen is located in the Trails at 620. It’s cozy, well lit, and has some awesome history behind most (if not all) of the re-purposed wood. Ask the McCollum’s (owners) all about it. The bar is actually made of re-purposed wood that was burned to give a more distinct characteristic.
There are glass garage doors that can open up to the outdoor seating area decked with picnic style tables, patio chairs, a playscape for the kids, and an area for live music on the patio.
The Food & Drink
Super fresh and clean tasting surf.
Starting with their appetizer selections, the Pistol Shrimp offers one jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, wood-fire grilled, with a papaya mustard dipping sauce — yum!
If you’re a fan of oysters on the half shell, there’s an impressive array of options. Choose your favorite oyster based on region and salinity. And if you’re not sure, ask Chef Mario and your server to point you in the right direction.
Main courses like the Grilled Shrimp & Grits and Moroccan Spiced Cod truly melt in your mouth.
The reason why you may notice the ultra freshness of the veggies paired with these dishes is due to Redfin Seafood Kitchen sourcing their foods from local growers and businesses.
The craft cocktails are unique to their restaurant, and the draft beers come served up at an incredibly cool 29 degrees … way cooler than your average draft poured beer.
And on to the sweetest part of every dining experience, the dessert.
The Banana Xango is not for the faint of heart. It is compiled as rolled tortillas filled with a homemade banana filling, served with two scoops of vanilla bean ice cream, sprinkled with candied pecans, and drizzled with caramel and strawberry sauce.
It’s definitely a dessert to share.
The Service
What a breath of fresh air. Don’t you just love it when people know what they’re talking about and can honestly answer your questions if you have any?
That’s what you can expect from everyone at Redfin Seafood Kitchen.
You’ll notice the warm hospitality is a true reflection of the McCollums and Chef Mario.
You will often find Mike McCollum and Chef Mario frequent the dining floor to check up on you, and even sit down for a chat if there’s an empty seat you wouldn’t mind being filled. They are so happy to see your smiles of savory satisfaction, and love to talk about the food and drink you are about to, or have already devoured.
They’re a down-to-earth family run business, offering daily specials and happy hours, with some pretty eventful shindigs throughout the year.
