For months we’ve been talking about all of the fun things happening in the Lake Travis area thanks to the return of Lake Travis, from reporting on lake levels to yachting to lakeside parks and recreation. There have been other exciting things happening too!
During this time, a lot of the new businesses we started talking about in early March 2015 are now open for business — or pretty close! The rainy days are behind us, so commercial development in the area has been in full swing.
The Oaks at Lakeway is taking shape quickly and although details about newly confirmed tenants isn’t mentioned on the website, we hear rumblings about who might be coming in. But that’s for a future post!
If you’ve driven by the old Iguana Grill, you’ll see the Lucy’s Fried Chicken sign hanging proudly at the entrance, which is currently surrounded by construction fence. In just a few short months, it will be open!
Let’s take a look at some of the new businesses that have opened their doors this summer.
Little Sunshine’s Playhouse & Preschool
This project is finishing up just in time for the new school year! In fact, Little Sunshine’s has announced a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house event on August 21, 2015 from 4-7 p.m.
You can tour the facilities, enjoy refreshments and light bites, as well as enter to win $500 towards tuition at the school.
This beautiful, state-of-the-art preschool (it looks like a castle!) is located right next to Lakeway Elementary on Lohmans Crossing.
FIND
We wrote about FIND a few weeks ago, because we think Lake Travis-ites are going to love it. Especially all of our local interior designers!
There are so many one-of-a-kind antiques and vintage furnishings waiting to be discovered. It’s like every piece is a conversation piece.
We’re also happy for Lake Travis residents Kim Charlet and Brent Charlet, because this is their second store in the Lake Travis area. They own Adorn Boutique and Brent is a co-owner of FIND.
Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave
The highly anticipated opening of Sonesta Hotel Bee Cave happened early this month and business is booming.
The rooftop bar and terrace called Meridian 98 is welcoming a lot of local patrons who are enjoying the cocktails, small plates and gorgeous views. The menu offers a lot of variety and the portions are definitely large enough to share.
We think the watermelon and goat cheese salad is especially delicious!
Schmidt Family Barbecue
The second Lake Travis location of this Texas barbecue tradition opened its doors earlier this month.
The new 3,600 square foot restaurant (only a few short miles away from their Bee Cave location) is located in Lakeway Town Centre at 2125 Lohmans Crossing. The restaurant looks great on the inside and the patio seating looks pristine with picnic tables and shady trees.
If you’re in need of a summertime barbecue fix, you should check it out.
Rocco’s Grill
A Lake Travis landmark in Italian dining has settled into its spacious new location. Rocco’s Grill has transformed the space at 12432 Bee Cave Road to reflect its beloved “neighborhood grill” personality and has even more room to accommodate hungry diners.
From the Italian glass-blown light fixtures to the colorful art, Rocco’s celebrates a taste of Italy in an inviting atmosphere. We’re happy for proprietors Rockey and Linda Piazza on their beautiful new restaurant.
We haven’t mentioned all of the new spots that have opened in Lake Travis this summer, so if there’s one you would like to share, let us know on the Lake Travis Lifestyle facebook page.
