Oktoberfest, Pumpkin-Palooza & Halloween in Lake Travis

Written by Cathy Hale | October 13, 2015

It feels kinda silly getting a sunburn while you’re decorating your yard with pumpkins and Halloween decor, but hey, it’s Austin. That’s how we roll.

The temps will start to cool off a bit this week, which will make it feel more like fall. That means Halloween is right around the corner!

You may have heard the City of Lakeway won’t be hosting Goblin Glow this year because the event outgrew its venue. Although it may happen again in the future when they find a suitable spot.

That being said, there’s still a lot of fun, family-friendly things to do in the Lake Travis area this month from Oktoberfest to Pumpkin-Palooza to trick-or-treating at the Hill Country Galleria.

Here’s a roundup of Halloween events in Lake Travis:

Oktoberfest | Rough Hollow
Saturday, October 17, Noon – 4pm

Get your schnitzel on! You can toast to the good life with a twist of Bavarian culture at Rough Hollow’s Oktoberfest celebration. This free event includes complimentary German eats, a beer garden, treats, live music, games, face-painting and more. Plus, you can tour 12 model homes in Rough Hollow.

This is a family-friendly event, so grab the kiddos and enjoy the “rough” life overlooking the beautiful Texas Hill Country.

Pumpkin-Palooza | Lakeway Elementary
Saturday, October 17, Noon – 4pm

This annual carnival, Pumpkin-Palooza, is lots of fun for the whole family with games, rides, bounce houses, face-painting, laser tag, a cake walk, a pumpkin patch and more. You can enter the raffle ($1 per ticket) to win jaw-dropping gift baskets (retail value from $450-$600+) full of amazing goodies featuring fun themes like Minion Madness, Minecraft, Nerf, Texas Longhorns, Texas Aggies and Lego, just to name a few.

Proceeds benefit the Lakeway Elementary PTO. Lake Travis ISD middle school and high school students can volunteer to work at the carnival for service hours credit. If interested, please visit the PTO website for details.

Trunk or Treat Events | The Lakeway Church & Acts Church Lakeway
Saturday, October 24 | LCC 5pm-7pm, Acts 4pm-6pm

If you haven’t experienced a trunk or treat event yet, you’re missing out on an evening of creative fun at The Lakeway Church and Acts Church Lakeway.

This is a popular Halloween party theme where participants decorate the truck of their cars, SUVs and, of course truck flatbeds, for trick-or-treating for the kiddos. Each car is a different theme and people come up with some really creative ideas.

BuzzFeed and Pinterest have lots of fun and over-the-top decorating ideas if you need some spooky inspiration. Plus, make sure you swing by Acts Church because their pumpkin patch is open for business.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Event | Hill Country Galleria
Saturday,  October 31 | Kicks-off at 4pm

Join the Hill Country Galleria on Saturday, October 31st for a special Halloween event with free face painting, free kids entertainment, free music, and of course trick or treating! The fun starts at 4pm in the outdoor Amphitheater with kids entertainment by Joe McDermott, then trick or treating follows from 4pm-6pm. Kids (and adults) are encouraged to wear costumes.
