Despite the cold snap, construction has been moving right along at the Oaks at Lakeway site. This highly anticipated $70 million, 250,000-square-foot project has had Lake Travis residents buzzing for a while, so seeing a concrete slab is rather exciting.
Plus, new tenants are falling into place like Torchy’s Tacos and High 5 Family Entertainment. We’ve also heard that the H-E-B is launching a unique concept at this location which will include full bar service and an eatery.
First order of business, let’s chat about Torchy’s Tacos coming to Lakeway. {Insert happy dance here.} It’s hard to debate the “damn good tacos” that Torchy’s has been serving up over the years. With a terrific Austin-y success story and amazing tacos like the Scallywag, my guess is Torchy’s will be packed at all times of the day and night. Call it a hunch.
Another cool company that will call its new 46,000-square-foot building home in Oaks at Lakeway is High 5 Family Entertainment. According to local sources, this building will have 28 bowling lanes, two-story laser tag, gaming, dining and event space.** Unfortunately the dine-in movie theater didn’t get the green light, but it sounds like we will have plenty of other fun things to do.
And, of course, the H-E-B who has expressed its excitement about coming to Lakeway will not disappoint. We will get to experience one of its newer concepts, a restaurant in the grocery store. This concept is also at the Mueller location and it has been very successful. The eatery with full bar service will feature various entrees, rare wines, local brew and spirits.
**CORRECTION: According to recent new sources, we have learned additional information about High 5 Entertainment that says it will have 16 lanes on the first level accompanied with laser tag, gaming, and full restaurant and bar, and 12 lanes on the second level with a unique lounge area and bar that will be appealing to adults.
