Editor’s note: The awesome folks at Nik’s on the Lake provided the Lake Travis Lifestyle team with a couple of free entrees.
There’s a new dining hot spot in the Lake Travis area that will satisfy your need for delicious cuisine with a delightful view, Nik’s on the Lake.
This new 200-seat restaurant, which was formerly Cafe Blue, is accessible by boat or by land, so it’s the perfect place to refuel, relax and enjoy Lake Travis and the beauty of the Texas Hill Country.
Nik’s on the Lake is located next to the Sandy Creek Yacht Club on Lake Travis, just a few short miles away from Volente Beach Water Park at 8714 Lime Creek Road.
Getting there is a mini adventure … but it’s well worth the trip.
You’ll serpentine along the shores of Lake Travis passing places like Cypress Creek Marina and Riviera Marina. Once you hit Volente Beach Water Park, you merge right onto Lime Creek Road and you’re almost there.
Upon arrival, you may wonder where it is — “huh?!” — because it’s not visible from the parking lot. Well, look for the Nik’s sign on your left and follow the stone path down to the water. They also have a lift you can take if the walk on a slightly bumpy, albeit natural staircase, isn’t your thing. Once you get down there, the beauty of the lake is impossible to ignore.
Nik’s on the Lake is pleasant (even in triple digits) because they have misting machines and fans throughout the entire space. It’s a huge restaurant with plenty of room for parties large or small. And it has a cute lounge area off the side of the enormous deck. Think glass garage doors as windows that open wide when the suns sets. There are ducks and fish and turtles swimming right below you, so it’s fun to see nature enjoying the lake life too.
Now let’s dish about what really makes Nik’s on the Lake an awesome addition to Lake Travis’ waterfront dining … the food!
The menu is more sophisticated than your typical waterfront fare and there’s something for everyone. From a nice selection of appetizers to fresh salads and burgers to fresh fish and ribs, no matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ll find it.
The portions are B-I-G, so bring your appetite. Some of the most popular items on Nik’s menu are Jalapeño Lime Parmesan Chicken, Shrimp Bobbers and the grilled salmon. They have a kid’s menu with perhaps the most delicious chicken tenders in the area!
You will also find a great selection of cocktails, beers and wine for celebrating a day or evening on the lake. Plus, they have plenty of big screen TVs, so you can catch your favorite games too.
On the weekends, Nik’s on the Lake opens at 11am. They open at 4pm during the week. When you’re headed that way for dinner, definitely try to be there at 8pm through the rest of summer for optimal sunset viewing.
