It’s officially the “dog days of summer” in the Lake Travis area. By that we mean these days are so hot, they aren’t fit for a dog. Especially not for your pampered pooches.
In honor of your furry friends, let’s take a look at a few local spots that are celebrating your four-legged pals. From free teeth-cleaning opportunities to a new holistic pet shop to reading with pups, Lake Travis loves its pets!
Got a pet you’d like to see featured on LTL’s Instagram? (Of course you do.) Keep reading for more details.
Time to say “ahh” or “arf”
Did you know Tomlinson’s offers complimentary, anesthesia-free dental cleanings?
Performed by Scott Blanchard and his team of licensed vets at Canine Dental Services, these drug-free dental cleanings are purrfect for dogs and cats. You can check out an online booking to snag a spot. Lakeway gets booked up fast, but Tomlinson’s does have locations throughout Austin, and they’re offering appointments through November.
Pet sitter extraordinaire
We get so many inquiries from our Lake Travis area friends in search of a pet sitter. Here’s a name to remember: Pam Bilderback. She’s a fantastic pet sitter in the Lake Travis area. She’s been a vet technician all of her life and her genuine love of animals is obvious from the moment you meet her.
From pet sitting to grooming to caring for animals who need medical attention, Pam goes above and beyond. Oh, and not just dogs and cats, Pam has extensive experience with horses too.
Healthy Pet headed to Hill Country Galleria
A new pet store will be opening at HCG that specializes in holistic, natural food, and supplies for pets. It’s called Healthy Pet. They’ll be located at suite R-140, across from Whole Foods.
Healthy Pet is an Austin-based company that opened its first location in June 2012. The HCG storefront will be their fourth location. In addition to premium pet products, Healthy Pet will have self-serve dog wash stations. Woof! Healthy Pet is expected to be open by the end of the year.
Bow Wow Reading this Sunday
What makes reading the most fun? Reading to an audience of cute pups, of course.
The Dog Alliance is a non-profit that shares the therapeutic power of dogs with the community through a variety of amazing programs.
On the first Sunday of every month, Lake Travis Community Library collaborates with this awesome organization to offer Bow Wow Reading. It’s an excellent opportunity for local children to practice their reading skills and engage with furry friends in the process.
Signing up in advance is required. The next date for Bow Wow Reading at Lake Travis Community Library is August 4.
When you’re feeling peckish
Don’t forget about all of the restaurants who are dog-friendly in the Lake Travis area and the nearby Texas Hill Country. We did a round-up of 5 Dog-Friendly Spots back in May 2019.
Pets of Lake Travis on Instagram
At LTL, we love our local pets too and like to share pics of them hanging out at the lake or swimming with inflatable flamingos. Have a pet pic to share? Tag it on Instagram: @LakeTravisLifestyle for a chance to be featured.
