In fact, I had a recent personal experience that helps illustrate that fact.
After months of begging, we finally agreed to register our 6-year-old daughter for guitar lessons. Neither my husband nor I play, so we were pretty clueless and didn’t know where to start. Frankly I was intimidated to walk in to a professional music store, because I don’t know the terminology (did you say Snark?) and was afraid I’d be steered toward the most expensive or unnecessary gear simply because I didn’t know any better. But we needed a guitar and supplies and I’d heard good things about Music Fox, so off we went.
The owner, Jose Hernandez, immediately put us at ease and made the entire process a smooth one for us. He helped us find the right size for my daughter, showing her the instrument and describing each part. I did some research and the pricing was competitive with other sellers, so we ended up purchasing the youth acoustic guitar. My daughter happily bounced out the door strumming her six string with her new picks. I thought we were done for at least a few months. Not so fast.
Two weeks later we were back. This time because my daughter — who does everything else right handed — decided she prefers to play lefty. Again this is all new to me, but apparently that makes things more challenging because the strings need to be reversed (either that or purchase a custom guitar — which certainly isn’t in the budget).
We reasoned that playing left-handed worked out pretty well for Jimi Hendrix and Paul McCartney, so instead of forcing her to play right handed we headed to Music Fox for help. Jose remembered us and took the time to restring the guitar for a lefty. He didn’t charge for the service, explaining that if you purchase the strings there they will string your guitar for free. Even if that means changing from righty to lefty. Nice perk.
So we were rocking along until last week, when my daughter broke her first string. Back we went, and were happy to learn that Music Fox sells individual strings. Some music stores won’t and you have to purchase an entire set, but Jose fixed it and charged us just a couple bucks for the single new string. Good as new!
Music Fox truly looks out for its customers, whether they’re beginners looking for their first instrument or experienced players wanting to upgrade or purchase accessories. They’ll even do custom orders and beat competitor’s pricing, so no matter your music needs it’s definitely worth stopping in.
