Any other families have those days where no one can agree where to eat? One person wants seafood, another loves BBQ, someone else craves Tex-Mex and the last doesn’t care as long as there’s a place for the kids to run around and burn some energy. Sound familiar? If only there were a place that could please everyone….
Amazingly, such a place actually exists (and nope, I’m not talking about the mall food court)! Midway Food Park is trailer food heaven, just a short drive from the Lake Travis area. The park opened last fall on Highway 360, about a mile south of Bee Cave Road. It currently consists of eight food trailers in a large fenced in area, with ample outdoor seating, a playground for the kids and clean, air-conditioned bathrooms (this may not sound like such a big deal in January, but wait ‘til July rolls around…).
Midway Food Park is a really cool place with a little something for everyone. With so many food choices you can stick with your favorite or take a chance on something new—you might be pleasantly surprised. Currently, the trailers consist of Dock and Roll Diner, Bob and Mike’s Chicken, Widespread Daves, Snollygoster’s, Tapas Bravas, The Seedling Truck and CoolHaus. These may change or grow over time, but that just adds to the variety and uniqueness.
In addition to the food, over the last few months Midway Food Park has established itself as a cool place to simply hang out. The metal chairs, vintage signs and circus theme give it character, with a fun “Austiny” vibe. The string lights and brand new fire-pit make it charming at night, and they often have live music in the evenings.
Midway Food Park is a great place to grab a coffee in the morning, pop in on your lunch hour, relax after work or meet friends on the weekend. It’s comfortable, fun and a safe place for all ages. So bring your kids, bring your dog and bring your out-of-town-visitors to enjoy this food park that is uniquely Austin.
