LTL Weekly & This Weekend in Lake Travis: May 18-20, 2018

Written by Todd Hower | May 17, 2018

When you don’t want to be in Lake Travis …

Floating on an inner tube at night watching Jaws. Alamo Drafthouse’s most popular Rolling Roadshow event, Jaws on the Water, returns on June 15 and continues Friday and Saturday nights through August 4 at Volente Beach Resort.

When you don’t want to be a bass in Lake Travis …

All eyes in the sport fishing world are on Lake Travis as the 2018 Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest hits the lake for four days (starting today). It will feature the top anglers in the Bassmaster Elite Series competing for $1 million in prize money with the top competitor earning $100,000.

When you love your kids, but they’ll be at home every day …

The Lakeway Activity Center hosts tons and tons of summer classes and camps for kids of all ages. This weekend, they’ll be hosting their annual Summer KickOff! You and your kiddos can see exhibits and meet instructors. It’s a free event, and they’ll have hot dogs, face-painting, and snow cones from Ice Cream 2U.

When you almost get run over by gazelles …

Okay, they weren’t gazelles, but they were very gazelle-like. Two beautiful, young, Blackbuck antelope were chilling at Lakeway City Park earlier this week. Check out the video on our Instagram page.

When you can’t keep up with what’s opening and closing …

On Wednesday, LTL’s Cathy Hale gave you the inside scoop on the new steakhouse that’s taking over Mimi’s old spot, the dance hall that had to call it quits — temporarily — and new pedestrian paths in Bee Cave.

For when it’s time to find a new place to live …

Lake Travis Lifestyle, together with Todd Hower Realty, will help you save money when you sell and make money when you buy. Find out more by clicking here if you want to do that.

When you need a Bloody Mary …

Nothing says Sunday Funday like sipping a zesty Bloody Mary at brunch. Since LTers are quite brunch-y, we’ve expanded our Weekend Roundup to include Sunday brunch spots.

Bailey Kay Hutson is a 20-year-old who was born with Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus, and she founded this event to help children with disabilities and their families.

On Saturday, May 19, action-packed bull riding will begin at 6pm, and Jason Boland & The Stragglers will hit the stage at 9 pm. The event will be held at Dripping Springs Ranch Park.
