When there’s a shark in Lake Travis …
Don’t fall off your inner tube.
When you go back to the Backyard …
It’s the year 2010, and over 30 tour buses with 20 bands showed up at the new Backyard in Bee Cave to perform more than 12 hours of music for a sellout crowd of 7,500 Willie fans. Willie Nelson’s Fourth of July picnic continued a tradition that began in Dripping Springs in 1973, but without the arrests, nudity, and mayhem that defined the picnic in its younger years. Things haven’t been the same at the Backyard, and with a lawsuit coming to a close and “trust issues” aside, Bee Cave is ready to make the Backyard better than ever.
When you draw new lines …
Whether you moved or not, you might be going to a different school. With so many people moving into the area, Lake Travis ISD is redrawing attendance zones for both middle and elementary schools. There will be two meetings this week — on Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm in the Lake Travis High School Performing Arts Center — to hear feedback on the proposals. You can also submit your thoughts through this online form.
When perspiration is a good thing …
Sweating is the new spinning according to this California-based infrared sauna therapy spa. Perspire will open in the WestBank Shopping Center this summer with claims that each session can result in a loss of 200-400 calories, reduce insomnia, give you glowing skin, help reduce inflammation, speed up post-exercise recovery, and more. Who needs deodorant.
When one door closes, another one opens …
Con’ Olio sells the largest selection of freshly pressed olive oils and vinegars in the area. They closed the downtown location — and will also close the Shops at the Galleria store — to open a flagship store at the Gateway at Falconhead in Bee Cave. The new store officially opens on Friday, April 5. They’ll host a grand opening and 10th-anniversary party on April 13.
When you’re a turkey in Lakeway …
You like to hang out around Duck Lane.
