When Lake Travis is 100% full …
With less than seven weeks to go before Memorial Day weekend, the lake is nearly 12 feet above the historical average for April.
When you break records and cancel a 10K…
Way to go weather. For the first time in the 42-year history of the Statesman Capitol 10,000, severe thunderstorms and unrelenting lightning forced the cancellation of the popular race. More than 23,000 people had registered for the annual Capitol 10K race. In the 72 hours ending at noon Monday 4/8, the highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Williamson County at 8.18″. Travis County came in second place at 6.41″.
When you’re the best. Again …
When you feel the need for more storage …
That’s not a good feeling. The developer of Tuscan Village feels like a storage facility — located across the street — is a good fit for the community. He believes that many of the residents have downsized from larger homes and feels like there’s a need for storage. Residents and the Lakeway zoning board aren’t feeling it. And Tuscan Village residents spoke out against the proposal, saying they wouldn’t need a storage facility. Most of the time, it’s just better to ask people how they feel. No hard feelings.
When you don’t want to see what a $23M facility looks like …
It’s not necessarily somewhere you want to go. The brand new Lakeway Police Facility is expected to be operational on April 15, 2019. Tax day. Sweet choice. Here’s the breakdown of the $23,065,000 bond.
When you need another upgrade …
Now that the new Lakeway Police Facility is complete, what about the rest of Lakeway’s major buildings? Lakeway’s City Hall, Justice Center, and Activity Center, as well as the Public Works and Parks & Recreation departments, might need some renovations in the next 15 to 20 years. That will be another $20 million.
