In August 2017, we shared the exciting news that Lakeway would have a new beer garden — Hops & Thyme — located in Lakeway Town Center II at 2125 Lohman’s Crossing Road.
Well, the time for celebrating is here. Cheers to craft beer, Lake Travis!
Hops & Thyme is officially open for business today from 11am-11pm. With 42 beers on tap, 20 wines on tap and a delicious menu of small plates, all we can say is, “It’s about thyme!”
Craft beer guru
What sets Hops & Thyme apart from the rest is the craft brew connoisseur behind the counter, Matt Ward. This Lake Travis resident is well-versed in everything that has to do with the cold brew.
Matt has even designed and built taps himself so that each one would be individually regulated and refrigerated. That means the beer that flows from the faucets won’t be foamy. Of course, you’ll still get those pretty lines of collapsed foam — the laces let you know your emptied glass was well-poured perfection.
But Hops & Thyme isn’t just about the beer. It’s about creating a gathering spot where friends and neighbors can enjoy good beer, good food, and good conversation.
Hill Country vibes
Together with his partner Trent Chastain, Matt is bringing his vision of a neighborhood watering hole to fruition. And this location is the perfect spot.
Hops & Thyme has indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of room to roam. The patio has a relaxed vibe with comfy booths, picnic tables, an outdoor bar and big shady trees. It’s indeed a beer garden, perfect for sipping a cold brew and playing a game of washers.
Small plates elevated
Yesterday Executive Chef Nathan Pearlman was busy prepping the menu for the opening day. Small plates feature bar snacks, salads, vegetables, desserts and tasty bites like crab salad, Baja tacos, boar ragu and shrimp & grits.
Chef Nathan is proud to partner with local vendors like Barton Springs Mill and 44 Farms, a beef producer of Texas cattle, to offer the freshest and most flavorful ingredients.
Pints & growlers
With 42 beers on tap, what can you expect to find?
IPAs like Buckethead IPA, 512 IPA, 512 Double IPA, Bells’ Two Hearted IPA, Smash-Citra IPA and Union Jack IPA.
