The Lakeway Swim Center is like having a private water park in your own backyard. And on June 7, it is open for the summer season.
Let the water fun and “watch me’s” commence!
If you haven’t been to the Swim Center yet, you are missing out on a fantastic facility with tons of great amenities located right in the heart of Lakeway with enough activities to put a smile on your face all summer long. (Especially if your kiddos are tall enough to ride the water slides — 48″ tall — no exceptions!)
The facility has a huge leisure pool with a shallow beach-like entry that’s the perfect spot for little ones to splish and splash. They can ride the famous “Froggy” slide by climbing up the frog’s back and sliding down his tongue — it’s pretty thrilling for toddlers. You aren’t allowed to bring floaties for small children, but the pool offers U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets in all sizes.
The Lakeway Swim Center has lots of large-shade umbrellas and lounge chairs, so it’s easier to stay comfortable, even when the summer sun is sizzling.
Water-related activities for bigger kids include volleyball in the deep end of the pool and an obstacle course where they can leap across the lily pads (think ABC’s Wipeout challenge), not to mention there are two big water slides.
Both slides are located at the deeper end of the leisure pool and have no fear, plenty of lifeguards are on duty (with loud whistles) to make sure everyone is as safe as possible. If anyone is feeling waterlogged, they can take a little stroll up the hill for a quick game with oversize chess and checkers — very amusing!
The lap pool is just a few steps away and it’s always busy. There is a sunning terrace at the far end of this pool and plenty of lounge chairs for a quieter pool experience.
When the temps reach 100 and the leisure pool doesn’t feel as refreshing as you would like, take a dip in the lap pool. It’s always cooler, even in the summer heat. They have kick boards available for lap swimming too.
Lakeway Swim Center conveniences include a covered concession area with picnic tables, bathrooms with changing rooms, showers and coin-operated lockers. The rental facility is extremely popular during the summer months for celebrations and birthday parties. You can check out the Birthday Party Package here.
The Lakeway Skate Park
Located right next to the Swim Center is the Lakeway Skate Park featuring 9,000 square feet of combination bowl and street elements. It’s a pretty impressive park, especially when the kids are whizzing around showing off their tricks. Skateboards and in-line skates are allowed, but no bikes. And, of course, the facility strongly recommends the use of helmets, knee and elbow pads.
Swimming Programs
There are swimming programs like the Lakeway Lakers summer swim team, a recreational league, and a year-round, coached United States Masters Swimming program for adults, as well as water aerobics and more.
Daily pool passes and memberships are available for purchase. Check out the website for rates, hours of operation and much more.
