Have you been searching for the Lakeway Farmers Market?
You may have pulled into an empty parking lot on Sunday morning. The Lakeway Farmers Market, formerly located in the Lakeway Commons (where Rocco’s restaurant sits) has moved and the name has changed.
It’s now called The Lone Star Farmers Market and the location is at the Lowe’s parking lot in Bee Cave, which is in the Shops at the Galleria. Not to be confused with the Hill Country Galleria, which is on the other side of Hwy 71.
The market is open on Sundays from 10am–2pm all year long (mild climate — another reason why the Lake Travis area is awesome).
It’s your Sunday afternoon go-to destination for family fun, healthy shopping, and eating. You’ll find a variety of organic fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and all kinds of arts and crafts.
Here is what you can expect to find at the Lone Star Farmers Market throughout the year. And of course, it wouldn’t be Austin without some live music!
Don’t buy food from strangers!
When you buy local, you’re encouraging regional farming and stimulating the local economy. Also, you’ll be able to meet the farmers and find out when fruits and veggies are picked and how they’re grown. And if you’re a meat eater, it’s nice to know where your meat comes from and what it was fed.
All that should have you feeling pretty good and healthy about yourself. But if not, then here are a few more reasons why you should shop at a farmers market.
You can also get information on all the Lone Star Farmers Markets Vendors.
Do you want to get involved?
If you’re a chef, artist, performer, musician, or just feel like you have something to offer — you can find information on how to get involved here.
I hope to see y’all there!
