Lake Travis Lifestyle Weekend Roundup: September 1-3, 2017

Written by Todd Hower | September 1, 2017

This incredible unedited photo was sent to us by Braden Frame with Lake Travis Fire Fighters. They currently have eight fire fighters dispatched to Houston to aid in Harvey relief efforts. In order for the RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) to get where it needed to be, they had to drive a convoy of fire trucks through the deep floodwaters under an ominous sky.

Lake Travis fire trucks have now been dispatched to put out the fires in Crosby. You can follow their amazing journey here.

This is just one of the thousands of images of bravery we have seen in the aftermath of Harvey. Yesterday we shared stories about Lake Travis area residents who are lending a hand in the relief effort. More and more Lake Travis businesses are joining the fight to rebuild and recover.

Lake Travis resident Michelle Webb, a dance teacher at Hudson Bend Middle School and owner of Bowblicious Designs has created custom #TexasStrong tees that she’s selling with proceeds to benefit Harvey victims. (You may remember her name from our article about the Kilgore Rangerettes.) Scroll down to see pics in the “Harvey relief efforts in Lake Travis” section.

Mayor Alder is giving Austinites a chance to help out from their own homes by building ‘Welcome Kits’ for evacuees. As of Thursday morning, JJ Watt’s Houston relief effort has reached and surpassed its astounding $10 million goal. It’s still climbing. Just wow.

Putting Harvey’s rain into perspective: The amount of rain that fell during Harvey could fill Lake Travis to capacity a little over 54 times!

Enjoy your long Labor Day weekend and thank you for everything you do, Lake Travis. Big state. Biggest hearts.
