It seems fitting to celebrate the return of our beautiful Lake Travis by giving LTL readers the chance to win a 2-hour boat rental from Lakeway Marina. Our lucky winner can choose his or her lake adventure by renting a runabout, pontoon boat or WaveRunner.
It’s rather unbelievable to think we started talking about how much rain we need to fill Lake Travis eighteen days ago. On May 14, LCRA reported levels of 630.55 above mean sea level. As of May 31, Lake Travis is a whopping 665.53. It is the wettest month on record — like ever! — for the state of Texas.
We’ve had more than 37 trillion gallons of water fall over Texas in May, which is enough rain to cover the entire state 8 inches deep. Obviously, we’re thrilled to have our lake back, but our hearts go out to the families who have suffered losses as a result of this flood.
On a bright note, it is refreshing to see all of the volunteers who are lending a hand to communities and families in need. Everything is bigger is Texas, including our hearts!
