Lake Travis Gets a New Boutique
Sage Threads & Co. is located at 1310 RR 620 S. and showcases the comfy stylings of owner Kenna Johnson. Together with manager and visual merchandiser Ann Marie Graham, Sage Threads is poised to take over your closet … one sweater at a time.
A Passion for Fashion
The love of running a shop together all started in college, at the University of Arkansas to be exact. This is where the story of Sage Threads owners Kenna and Ann Marie first began. But that’s not where their passion for fashion started in the first place.
“I’ve been working in retail since I was 16, so this has always been my dream,” Kenna admits as we take a quick tour so I can get a feel for the shop.
After working in retail before and after college, Kenna was ready to make her dreams a reality by opening her online store, Sage Threads & Co.. This would be the virtual storefront for almost a year while she scouted locations for her brick and mortar shop.
The choice to make Lake Travis home for Sage Threads wasn’t a difficult one, since she had family retiring in the area and noticed a lack of clothing boutiques to serve the growing population of the Lake Travis area.
The Lake Travis Vibe
In addition to having some of the trendiest clothes in Lake Travis (think brands like Blank NYC, MINKPINK and Level 99), the girls are on a mission to not only bring in quality items, but pieces that are your favorite “go-to” outfits for years.
“We both like to be really comfortable and here in Austin and Lakeway and Lake Travis, nobody dresses up. They like to be comfortable and look cute. And that’s kind of what we look for, quality … you can still dress it up, even though it’s casual … we’d rather be comfortable,” Kenna relates as both girls point to their current outfits, which happen to be both cute and comfy, their main focus when it comes to selecting merchandise for the store.
Something for Every Closet
“We pick out stuff for us, and also a lot of young moms, and our moms. They shop and we like to make sure the mom and daughter can shop [together].”
You can expect to find a lot of American-made brands, like those from California, in addition to brands from fashion-conscious Australia and Canada, too. And as always, the emphasis is on quality, from the softness of their sweaters to the dye on their denim.
When they’re not searching for stylish finds, Kenna and Ann Marie are homebodies that like to spend time with their dogs and families.
