Lake Travis’ Infamous Brewing Company Celebrates 4 Years of Brewing the American Dream

Written by Kim Wade | April 5, 2017

With more than 10 of their very own specialty craft beers to choose from, the release of Infamous+Sam Adams Oyster Stout, and a recent brewing agreement with Solid Rock Brewery gives Infamous Brewing Company a myriad of reasons to celebrate.

At Lake Travis Lifestyle, we’re all about supporting local beer. That’s why we’ve followed Infamous Brewing Company during their journey in the Texas Hill Country.

In 2013, we welcomed the new brewery to the Lake Travis area with outreached frosted glasses.

In 2014, we announced the exciting news about their tap room addition and then we showed you what a typical Saturday looks like during tap room hours.

It just makes sense to celebrate their 4-year anniversary. What a milestone!

Craft Brew Champs

We do everything bigger and better in Texas. Beer in no exception. Over the years, Infamous Brewing has snagged all sorts of medals for their tasty craft beer. In 2015, they won four medals at the World Beer Championships:

  • Camacho – Gold – American Stout
  • Infamy – Gold – Strong Ale
  • Pumpkin Massacre – Silver – Flavored Porter
  • Sweep The Leg – Silver – Flavored Stout

More Beer, Please

Built by its founders — literally with welding machines — Infamous Brewing grew quickly.

By 2016, they were too big for their Hudson Bend space, so they set up an alternating proprietorship in Grapevine, TX. The Dallas location produces Hijack and IPA in cans and kegs, so the Lake Travis location can have all sorts of fun experimenting with new recipes.

Party Time

On March 18, 2017, Infamous Brewing hosted their 4 year anniversary party at their brewery located at 4602 Weletka Drive off Hudson Bend Rd. in Lake Travis.

The anniversary bash incorporated all the things people have come to love about the Lake Travis culture and was fun for all ages, kids and dogs alike.

Party-goers danced and sang along to live music by Fair City Fire and Graveltooth, nibbled on piping hot crawfish served up by Nola Kitchen, and noshed on jumbo, juicy hamburgers and hot dogs fresh off the grill.

The Infamous Family

Infamous Brewing Company owner, Josh Horowitz, is extremely passionate about providing his customers a variety of carefully crafted beers in a fun, laid-back, family-friendly atmosphere.

A gentle giant with an extra deep voice and infectious laugh, Josh grabbed a pint of his infamous beer and ‘hop-ped’ onstage with the band delivering a heartfelt “thank you” to the regulars, newbies, vendors, and staff that have helped make Infamous Brewing such a success.

Josh was very excited to share details about the recent collaboration with Sam Adams explaining, “we used Cape Cod oysters, smoked them 3 hours over post oak at Smith BBQ, then soaked them in barrels of a crystal malt Raushbier to perfect our long-awaited Box-Aus Smoked Oyster Stout.”

Darren Hester is the lead brewer at Infamous and according to Josh, “Together, we are brewing the American Dream.”

Then there’s bar manager Erika Swindall who knows everything there is to know about Infamous, from their history to the brewing process, not to mention most patrons by name and beer preference. Erika is always willing to share a smile, a story and her wealth of Infamous knowledge while skillfully slinging pints of tasty beer, baking up pizza, pretzels, or popping fresh popcorn for her customers.
