Life in the Lake Travis area means everyone has their favorite spot for good food, good fun, and spectacular sunsets. After all, lakeside dining is one of the perks of livin’ the lake life.
If you haven’t been out to Sandy Creek Marina lately, you’re missing out on one of Lake Travis’ best restaurants on the lake — Shack 512. Today we’ll introduce — or reintroduce — you to this lakefront dining destination.
There are also lots of new things happening over at Pure Barre Lakeway. In addition to new ownership, Pure Barre has rolled new ‘Empower’ classes with more cardio and more ways to transform your body.
And since everyone loves a puppy parade, check out Lakeway’s Halloween Dog Walk on Saturday, where local pooches will showcase their cutest costumes.
Let’s dive in…
Food + Drink
This new lakeside restaurant has a familiar address because it was formerly Cafe Blue and Nik’s on the Lake. Today it boasts new ownership, a new menu, plenty-o-events and a renewed commitment to customer service. Dining at Shack 512 doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice service for a great view.
Shack 512 is accessible by boat (adjacent to the Sandy Creek Yacht Club on Lake Travis) or by land, so it’s the perfect place to refuel and relax.
Driving by car means you’ll serpentine along the shores of Lake Travis passing places like Cypress Creek Marina and Riviera Marina. Once you hit Volente Beach Water Park, you merge right onto Lime Creek Road and you’re almost there.
After you park, just follow the stone path down to the water. The promise of a breathtaking sunset awaits! Shack 512 has plenty of room for parties large or small with lots of TVs, so it’s a great spot to watch the game.
Enjoy a full bar and an extensive menu of appetizers, handhelds, entrees and a kid’s menu. Plus, Shack 512 is open for BRUNCH — yes, brunch! — on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-2pm. And don’t let the cooler temps cramp your style. Shack 512 just enclosed the patio, so it will remain open all year long.
Lifestyle
Back in September, Pure Barre Lakeway announced new ownership and a makeover of sorts. The studio has been lifting and tucking ever since with other changes including the addition of new ‘Empower’ classes.
The concept behind Pure Barre is small movements make big changes. Inspired by ballet at the bar, Pure Barre is a low impact workout that tones and builds muscles by isolating and fatiguing them. It’s a full body workout that does amazing things for core strength.
‘Empower’ classes take it up a notch with more cardio, the addition of wrist weights/ankle weights and a nifty little platform. Just like RIDE isn’t spin, Empower isn’t old-school step classes. But if you did aerobics in the early 90’s, parts of it are similar. Sorry though, no grapevine. 😉
If you wanna lift, tone and burn, stop by your neighborhood Pure Barre studio in Lakeway and see what’s shaking. Plus, Pure Barre is now partnering with Primrose School of Lakeway, so childcare during classes is a snap.
Live Local!
On Saturday, Lake Travis dog lovers can celebrate Halloween with their furry friends at the Lake Travis Lions Club’s Halloween Dog Walk at 10am at Lakeway City Park (502 Hurst Creek Road).
Part of the proceeds from this annual charity event will benefit the City of Lakeway animal kennel remodeling project under the supervision of Animal Protection Officer Andrea Greig of the Lakeway Police Department.
You can register early online or at the event for $20 starting at 9am on October 28. Cost includes an event T-shirt and a doggy goody bag to be available on the day of the event. Extra T-shirts also will be available for $10 each.
Prizes will be given for the best pup costumes!
