The Lake Travis area has its fair share of pumpkins for purchase, and whether you’re in the market for the perfect piece for carving or want to get your fall-themed pictures for the Halloween season, there’s no better place to search for one.
I took an afternoon to visit the orange patches, some with rows filled with hundreds of pumpkins, some in huge stacks waiting to be bought — some even decorating vintage bath tubs in the lawn.
With only a little more than a week left until Halloween, it’s time to get out there and find your perfect pumpkin. There are still plenty of shapes at sizes to find at these local pumpkin patches in the Lake Travis area.
ACTS Church on 620 – If your daily drive is down RR 620, you might have noticed the colorful orange lawn in front of ACTS Church in North Lakeway. Every fall season, the congregation sources the Halloween-themed gourds from a Navajo Indian reservation in New Mexico, bringing them to Lake Travis to benefit the community. Proceeds from sales of the winter squash and gourds go to missions in and around the Lakeway area.
They have some of the biggest pumpkins around and are super friendly about helping you find the ideal one. Don’t forget to grab a picture at the photo booth on site, which is perfect for families looking to snap a few fall-themed pictures for Halloween cards and the like. 1304 RR 620 N, Lakeway, TX
Revival Texas on 71 – It’s always a good shopping experience at Revival, from hunting through their vintage wares to enjoying their many holiday-themed events. October in Texas might not feel like fall, but with Halloween right around the corner the patches at Revival will give you plenty of pumpkins for your choosing to get you in the spirit. A visit to the store on a warm Saturday was a pleasant Hill Country oasis in the bustle that is the City of Bee Cave.
This is a wonderful spot to take a few pictures of the family or even a selfie or two — the wrought iron gazebos and vintage claw-foot tubs give the pumpkin patch a uniquely Austin touch and make for a great photo op. And if unusual gourds are your thing, we came across some of the most odd and colorful gourd creations here, so don’t forget to look around a bit for the rarer finds. 13308 W. Hwy 71, Bee Cave, TX
Whole Foods Market in Bee Cave – You may have already stumbled on the towers of pumpkins outside that showed up several weeks ago. Located conveniently in the Hill Country Galleria, you can make your pumpkin hunt part of your weekly grocery run. Talk about efficient!
