Have you been to the food trailers in Bee Cave lately? After a morning of working in the home office, I opened up the refrigerator to grab some lunch and came up short. So I decided to make a run to Whole Foods at the Hill Country Galleria to stock up on some food for the week.
A while back, I came across some info on the Way Out West Austin blog about a new food trailer moving into the space where Hey Cupcake used to be. So I decided to check it out and stop for lunch on my way to Whole Foods.
The food trailer I’m talking about is the Dock & Roll Diner. This was my first visit to Dock & Roll, so it was recommended that I try their signature dish, The “Maine” Event—a freshly baked, toasted roll piled high with Maine style lobster and dressed very lightly with Dock & Roll mayo and lemon butter. A few chives sprinkled on top add some nice color.
I couldn’t resist adding the homemade potato chips to go with my roll. Texan grown Russet potatoes sliced super thin, fried golden, and tossed in house seasoning. A picture taken about 3 minutes after the one taken above would be of an empty basket—it was that good!
The Dock & Roll Diner serves up plenty of other roll variations and sides that will keep you coming back for more. Check out The Real BLT or The Austin Roll on the Dock and Roll Menu page. But I’m warning you not to look if you’re hungry. You just might find yourself taking an unexpected lunch break!
*Update* After a recent drive-by I noticed the Dock & Roll Diner was GONE! A visit to the Dock & Roll Diner Facebook Page said this:
our lease was up out there and we got an opportunity that we just couldn’t pass on. We are very fond of that Lakeway lot and all of our faithful Lakeway customers, so we do plan on returning at some point. We’ll be opening soon at our new location in Westlake, and we hope you’ll come by to see us.
I’m sad to see you go, but I’ll be supporting y’all in Westlake and hope to see you return to the Lake Travis area soon!
*Update 2* Find the Dock & Roll Diner at their new location in The Midway Food Park.
