If you’re wondering what’s headed our way to satisfy your hunger, we’ll give you the rundown of what’s newly open and what’s opening soon. From sweet and savory crêpes to pizza topped with BBQ to Muffalettas, there’s a dining spot for every taste.
Or, for our super-pumped GoT (Game of Thrones) fans …
“Food is coming. When people ask you, what’s cooking here. Tell them, Lake Travis knows. Tell them; people came for the food.”
And speaking of GoT, we might be getting a new restaurant from our foodies in the North. Uhm, not The Seven Kingdoms or Westeros – Dallas, actually.
And about that Trader Joe’s rumor … well …
Maybe MUTTS Canine Cantina
One Dallas export that might be headed to the Lake Travis area is MUTTS Canine Cantina. This is exactly what the name implies. Super dog-friendly (off-leash) vibes.
The menu caters to people and dogs. While the exact location hasn’t been announced yet, we’ve heard rumblings that they’re headed to Austin and we think the Lake Travis area would be a great “paw”sibility.
Steiner’s Sloan + Parker
A new addition to Steiner Ranch is Sloan + Parker, a wine and beer lounge. This spot is a “passion project” for the owner, Katie, who wanted to create the perfect space for sipping bubbly and communing with friends.
There aren’t many places that provide this kind of an intimate, relaxed atmosphere, so a big thank you to Katie. Sloan + Parker has an extensive drink menu with wine, draft beer, cocktails, and small bites.
Crêpeful at The Oasis
If you haven’t had a crepe lately, you’re in for a treat. A UT alum opened Crêpeful in the Oasis shopping center on Lake Travis. The menu at Crêpeful is Japanese inspired with all sorts of flavors, and these crêpes are portable. They’re meant to be enjoyed on-the-go. The crêpes at Crêpeful aren’t just sweet either; they’re savory too. You can also find seasonal specials on the menu.
Toss Pizzeria & Pub
We may have said goodbye to Backdraft, but come June or July, we’ll be saying hello to Toss Pizzeria & Pub. Think New York-style pies with a Texas twist.
The Austin original is located at South First, and another one is headed way out west t0 Bee Cave. The menu will be the same with lots of pizzas, salads, wings, and gluten-free and vegan options. Don’t forget; they have that oh-so-delectable pizza topped with Terry Black’s brisket. Yum.
Gourmet Kernels
There’s a fancy popcorn in town – Austin Gourmet Popcorn. This new spot opened in Lakeway between Wink and Steel Magnolia Marketplace. And it’s not just about fluffy corn. Austin Gourmet Popcorn serves over 130 flavors of vintage soda and 400 types of candy. Plus, you can do all sorts of customization for every occasion.
Jason’s Deli opening in Lakeway
A new Jason’s Deli location is currently under construction in The Oaks at Lakeway. This is yet another dining option in a sea of restaurants in the new-ish shopping center that’s still being built out.
Jasons’ is a homegrown favorite with Austinites thanks to a big menu of healthy options like salads, sandwiches, Muffalettas, pasta and more.
Lil’doddy Burger Bar
This new concept restaurant from Austin’s Hopdoddy just opened its doors last week. The new Lil’doddy location is in Oak Hill at 4625 W William Cannon Dr. It’s a version of Hopdoddy featuring burgers, fries, craft beer & cocktails. The more streamlined restaurant has ample indoor seating with a beautiful bar area. Perfect for adults, kids, and adults that act like kids.
Tough luck TJ lovers
The whole reason we wrote this article is that we heard rumors swirling around that a Trader Joe’s was headed to the Lake Travis area. Austin already has three TJ locations, so the idea of a fourth made sense. Before everyone loses their Cauliflower-Pizza-Crust-loving mind’s about that, we haven’t been able to confirm it.
