Soccer is alive and well in Lakeway thanks to the vision of Eryck Avila, owner and trainer at Avila Soccer. If you haven’t heard about this amazing training facility located in Lakeway, you’re in for a treat. From the mini Cristiano Ronaldo who is perfecting his “nutmeg” to the greenest soccer newbie, all levels are welcome at Avila Soccer.
Not only is the location convenient to Lake Travis area residents, it’s indoor, which means on the hottest of summer days, you’ll be comfy and cool. This is a great option for families with smaller children who may need a break from the summer heat or want to continue training indoors when things cool down a bit. Plus, Avila offers soccer clubs (Lonestar, Dynamo, Lake Travis, PAYSL, Town and Country), camps and leagues for children and adults all year.
The facility itself is beautiful. From the street, you would have no idea it’s so large and state-of-the-art inside. Boasting air conditioning and heating, it’s terrific for parents because while your child receives personalized training, you can watch through shatter-proof windows, use their free WiFi or simply relax. (Oh, did I mention the soft turf is a wonderful alternative to practicing on fields which can sometimes be rather fire ant prone?!) You can even request for practice sessions to be recorded as a training aid.
Avila also brings a very dynamic approach to soccer, so it’s not just about the physical aspect of the sport or winning, Avila is dedicated to giving children and adults an alternative way to experience soccer that’s free of competition. The engaging staff at Avila is focused on competency and control without the pressure of performance, which means children (and adults) find a sense of mastery and self development which in turn, lends itself to a major boost of self confidence. While soccer is a very competitive sport, within the walls of Avila, winning isn’t everything.
Eryck Avila who played in four World Cup Qualifiers for the Puerto Rican National Soccer Team in 1994 and has played for professional teams in London, Liverpool and Buenos Aires is the owner and also a trainer. You can find him in one of his three facilities at any given time working with children and adults and supporting his amazing staff of trainers.
If you ask Eryck what makes his approach unique, he will tell you it’s “The Avila Method,” – it’s not just about speed and power. It’s about rhythm, coordination, improvisation, vision and individual excellence—all the components of the “beautiful game.”
If you’re ready to give Avila a try, check out their Winter Break Camps which will begin on December 21 and offer a truly flexible all-you-can-train schedule. Have fun and nutmeg on!
